Sticky brakes (brake glazing???)

Featured Replies

When I apply my brakes fully, and come to release them I get this terrible creaking noise. It sounds like they are sticking. Has anyone else heard of this or had this???? I haven't got the time at the 'mo to take the pads out to have a proper nosey but it's doing my nut, it even does it when I take the handbrake off.

Can you tell if its front or rear?

It sounds like the rear to me

Then yeah its quite common, usually the pads get stuck in the carriers and start to bind up. Are you running standard pads on the rear?

Yeah I have standard all around. So is it just a case of take out and refit???? And cross fingers this solves it lol. Cheers for the help.

Usually its the metal shims that cause the sticking, give them a good clean up. If you dont have a brake file get one, or at least a very rough tough file, then clean up where the metal shims sit.

New pads have a 3M sticky backing to them which keeps them stuck to the caliper so as the piston withdraws the pad goes back with it rather than staying against the disc.

Cheers for the info Ross you are a star!!

The noise is well embarrassing when going down multi storey car park ramps.
