Yeti Going Today

Featured Replies

Possible scenario:

I'm trying to sell a Morris Allegro GTI and a potential buyer comes along and says he's choosing between that car and the Ford Marina GLS. I'm keen to sell and go on the Ford Marina Web Forum and invent a tale of woe about the terrible problems I've had. True owners of the Ford Marina who are in the main very happy, offer loads of sympathy and advice.

I show the website to my potential buyer and he jumps well away from buying the troublesome Ford Marina and orders one of my Allegros. Some of the forum users get suspicious and start asking awkward questions - why did I take delivery when the car should have had 5 doors but it was only a two door saloon?. I then say that Morris have sworn me to secrecy so that I cannot divulge the dealers details and then go quiet.

I'm sorry but I smell a rat here!

What Car Review

I'm wondering if we should have detected the clip, clop of tiny hooves in this thread?

Nothing dispels rumour and innuendo quicker than a dose of facts, so why not spill the beans on the dealer so we can all take note?

Sorry to be picky Tervorminor and I know it's only an analogy, but the Allego was made by Austin, and the Marina was made by Morris.

After reading this thread I'm still confused as to what is going on. What I CAN gather is that a member has taken delivery of a Yeti and it has parts missing that he ordered and it was possibly the wrong spec with incorrect wheels. Is this correct?? :dull:

Do have to agree something is not right but on the other-hand a good number of dealers appear these days to know little about the product their selling or servicing, leading to incorrect advice or poor quality work being carried out at our expense.

When I ordered my wife's Fabia in June just as an example, the salesman was unaware that you could order in Pacific Blue (had to go make a phone call to find out for himself) or that there was an ESP Plus (ESP, HHC & TPM) option besides the standard ESP :S

Also read a number of tails regard potentially incorrect oil being used at service; just been reading one today on the Octy II forum where a dealer insisted you could use 505 oil in a CR diesel engine :o The owner is now concerned (quite rightly) that they will have used this when they recently serviced his car.

So yes this could be a tall tail or on the other hand just another poor quality dealer who would be better of selling Lada's :giggle: as there a bit more at their level; BASIC

TP

MacDemon - To show that I do actually know what I am talking about, in fact both were made by British Leyland at Cowley, Oxford for the Marina and Longbridge, Birmingham for the Allegro. I changed/invented the names to avoid being accused of anything inappropriate by quoting current vehicles.

Back to the tghread, if i arrived at a garage to collect a new car costing in excess of £13k, I would not hand over the cheque and take delivery if it was clearly on the 'wrong' size wheels.

I remain to be convinced of the validity of someone who has merely been a member of this forum for a fortnight and then sets out to rubbish our Yetis in the way that the originator of this thread has done. I am sorry but I simply don't believe any of it!

Tell us the dealer name if you dare!

From early on in this thread I've been wondering if it's been written by a Qashqai forum member taking the pish .. ..

And on every vehicle based forum you can think of there are people saying exactly the same thing......"I'd never buy another ********* again"

Bye Bye YetiSP2. ;)

I find that attitude offensive.

I'm sure if you had a bad experience as have I and YetiSP2 have then you may have a different opinion.

I'm glad your experience of Skoda and the Yeti is a good one. However, should there be bad ones then they should not be lampooned or hidden under the carpet.

I agree all manufacturers make poor cars from time to time, seems to me though that Skoda have made more than they are happy with and if you are one of the unlucky ones then don't expect them to keep quiet and take it on the chin and say "wow isn't skoda wonderful, I'll be sure to give them 20k of my hard earnt money again"

Rant over, my Subaru is faultless by the way.

Hi Octy,

good to see you still frequent the forum and pleased to hear you have your Scooby and are happy with it :)

Regards as always,

Octy888,

Why is my posting offensive?

I frequent several LR and 4x4 Forums where there are people complaining about their various vehicles. Heck, I've spent the last 6 years driving Freelanders, which must be one of the most complained about products ever made by LR, which in my case I thought was unjustified, but I could understand where those complainants were coming from.

I have friends that frequent the Mazda, Nissan, Ford, and Subaru Forums and there are people their making the same adverse comments about vehicles. In general Forums are rarely full of people praising their vehicle. No motor manufacturer has ever made a product that has been totally perfect or suited every owner perfectly.

So again, please state how this can be offensive?

Its the Bye Bye YetiSP2........I read into that moderate sarcasm with a tone of goodbye don't come back, good riddance if all you are going to do is criticize Skoda.

Yeti sp2 I asked you to list the faults on your Yeti and obviously was horrified to think that any one could be sold such a bad car, when you reported that the car would not start the night before the car was going to the dealer and you were having problems with the AA, am I not correct the RAC are skoda assist ? The next day you said you said you rang your dealer five times with no response, which I find strange would ignore a customer in this way after having so many problems Not saying your whole story is a fabrication but you must be the unluckiest skoda owner ever . You have constantly bad mouthed Skoda, but said next to nothing with regard to how the dealer was dealing with your horrendous problems.

T THIS IS YETI SP2 ORIGINAL POSTING NOT MELLYBOYS I LOVE MY YETI XXXX

reget not replacing the Subaru Legacy with another. Misguidedly i tried to save a few quid and the Yeti is nowhere near as good.

Ok, here's what's gone wrong so far:

- electric door mirrors don't adjust (broken from new)

- Day running lights either not fitted or not working (and yes, both I and the dealer have tried to switch them on via Maxidot - there is no option to do so)

- Light washers inoperative from new

- Rear parking sensor and "beep" when selecting first as well as reverse

- Excessive oil consumption

- Wind noise from front driver's side door (which is almost impossible to shut)

- Leaking tailgate

- central locking does not unlock from inside car

- spurious random messages on screen (in many languages)

- Everything rattles!

It's booked in on Friday because it has now developed a tendency to cut out on left hand corners

Sound like a typical car from British Leyland. Just add a handful of spare self tapping screws and washers. So no problem then! :wonder:

Octy888,

you read too much into it, especially as I don't believe that sarcasm works effectively in the written word.

Mellyboy,

Subaru's have their problems too. One of my neighbours has just part-exed a diesel Legacy Estate after 9 months ownership for a Kia Sportage. He got fed up with the poor fuel consumption, an persistant rattles, plus poor response from the dealership.

Kitten an I also got a poor response from Peter in our local Skoda dealer in Worthing, so we went to fareham and were a LOT happier with Steve

We stuck with the Skoda Yeti tho as it was 'ticking all our boxes' :giggle:

MELLY BOY is not getting rid of his yeti , I reprinted YETI SP2 alleged problems for members who read this forum, and were not aware of his original complaint regarding his skoda

No, because I believe them to be both the same person who has made up the whole lot in an attempt to rubbish the SM. Why? No idea! but if you look at their respective posts, they are frequently littered with inaccuracies and stuff that simply cannot be believed.

A hazard with open forums such as this one but hopefully this w....r has now gone away to play somewhere else.

Shows you how daft the Whatcar? website is to allow Mr Simon Pettigrew (YETISP2 ?) to post two pieces of fiction on their Reader Verdicts.

Totally undermines their credibility - if they had any to start with

I'll go and post a few more 5 star reviews on there when I've got nothing better to do.. B)

Hi tim just looked at the link how can that guy say that the yeti is bouncy and unsettled most sure footed car i have had.

The 1.2tsi noisy with a whistle never had mine whistle growls now and again when i play with the turbo but thats how i know the engine is still running.

Poor build quality i have looked a loads of cars all makes and models none have the panel fit around the doors wings and bonnet like the sm they all leave large gaps to allow for other panels or doors to fit in.

Wounder if this guy has a nic name of yetisp2 or Grey-yeti

It is a shame that he has posted two reviews on the What car website when he owned one car because it has dragged the verdict down in a way unrepresentative of the experienceof most owners. I think that we should all post our verdicts on What Car and restore a bit of balance. I will do mine shortly.

I remain to be convinced that he ever owned even one!

I find it hard to believe that this person ever owned a Yeti, after reading all the garbage that he has written on this site. I'm afraid that I share similar suspicions to other posters, and as for the What Car site then how can they let one person post two reviews on different cars, don't the moderators have eyes. He also goes against all reviews re build quality etc that every European car mag has ever written about the Yeti. Obviously this person has some perverse outlook on life and enjoys seeing his fantasies in print.

Let's bombard the what car website with our reviews which may be a bit biased but they will be truthful, decent and honest.
