Yeti Going Today

Featured Replies

I'm not going to write much on this. I am off to the dealer to give him the keys and the V5, he is refunding the original invoice price and my costs to sort through the mess.

The replacement has been ordered and is a month or so away. This time I did not go down the false economy route.

I am sure the next one will show you what a good car the Yeti is , not perfect but better than most. regard MB

You could not pay me enough to have another Skoda of any hue.

Should be easy to spot - an Elegance with 16" Moon wheels according to the OP.

It was almost an Elegance (a misbuild with a number of items missing and, yes, the wrong wheels).

It will not be sold again in the UK (allegedly)

Thought is was now in my signature but I've done what i should have done in the first place and ordered another Subaru Legacy Diesel Estate, the last did almost 100k without a single problem or a minute of unscheduled downtime so......

To be fair and we all know what a nightmare you've had, but equally there are no doubt people out there who are saying exactly the same things about Subaru cars they have had nightmares with, its just very bad luck when you get a minger of a car, and it certainly does not seem typical of a Skoda !!

Just put it down to a poor build and move on......it happens sadly !

Best of luck with the new one tho.

Hi YetiSP2,

pleased to hear you got a refund and that you have a Scooby on order. Shame your dealer was that poor in not recognising an incorrect build before delivery. Regard the wheels bit I wish they had built mine with moon alloys by mistake, that would have suited me down to the ground

Hope you leave them some feedback in the dealers section ;)

Anyway all the best with the new motor and hopefully as good as your previous one :)

TP

Good luck with the new car,

Not all skodas are bad, I am on number three now. First Octavia vRS did 54K miles without a problem and then sold it after 4 years with no issues at all. Second Octavia did just under 100K miles in 3 years, sold on now with one issue and that was a 50P sensor that failed. Now my current superb has done 25K miles and so far not set a foot wrong. I make that 175K miles with no problems except a 50P sensor.

The Yeti you gave back will be sold again, there is enough demand for them so it will be easy to shift even as a misbuild.

And on every vehicle based forum you can think of there are people saying exactly the same thing......"I'd never buy another ********* again"

Bye Bye YetiSP2. ;)

He may want to stay here so lets not get rid of him

Good luck with the Subaru, good riddance to a rotten lemon, shame it got through QC in the condition it was in.

Fingers firmly crossed that it is a rare exception - we are hopefully collecting ours next week :S

Please hang around and give us some feedback on the Subaru when she arrives

misunderstood your reply,One the service guys at my dealers has been following your saga with your Yeti can not understand how a Yeti in your condition could have got out of the factory or past the dealer pre delivery inspection, you must have had the worst dealer and the worst Yeti in the country, perhaps now you have had a refund you could name the dealer . I will stick with Skoda more than happy with their cars and my two local dealers are excellent. Enjoy your new car you certainly deserve to after your misfortune with your Yeti.

Shoot me down in flames but this whole saga is either total rubbish and mischief making or if it's true then it is scandalous to the point that a dealer should be losing their franchise.

I am not convinced by the thought that Scooby Doos are any better either. The rallying hype disguises what are quite ordinarily built run of the mill japanese saloons/hatches. The only stand out is the boxer engine and that is merely different, rather than better.

I have been thinking along the same lines, If I had had been sold such a heap of crap , I would certainly name and shame, I am surprised that SUK have imposed a gaging order as a condition to have a refund, if you stick to the facts and don't make inflammatory comments I am sure you well within the law. Its seems fair to name, then the decent dealers in that part of the world are not under suspicion of supplying such a horrendous car to a customer.
