yeti interior mirror

Featured Replies

Hi has anyone moved the position of the interior mirror. It obstructs my vision to the left. I would like to raise it on the windscreen but wondered best way to remove it without damaging windscreen.

Hi Alan,

the mirror can technically be moved up but a black circle will remain on the screen and there is a good chance of breaking the screen while trying to un-bond it (with heat I believe).

Has been some discussion on the subject elsewhere My link

Regards,

TP

Im also thinking of moving mirror more up. Is it holdt in place with some strong glue/tape?

If it is then piece of fishing line could "cut" through glue/tape easily. Been using this metod on previous cars to remove Model name ,engine size etc on the back of the car...

ps. I have to visit the dealer on 6 of sept. so I'll check with them what they think about it

My previous research on this subject has not come up with any safe method to remove the old mirror mount, glued to the windshield. It is most likely glued on with cyanoacrylate glue. heat will break the bond, but likely also crack the glass.

Skoda will not touch the subject.

The fishing line is worth a try, if it fails, then there is no damage done.

There should be no problem gluing the mount back on the windshield after removing a little of the black spots with something like acetone.

I mentioned the other day I sat in an SE and found the mirror too low,had a sit in an S spec car on Friday which,I presume has the same settings as a SE and found if you lowered seat low enough the mirror was acceptable.I am 6'1'' and have the seat set low anyway but I would imagine if you are smaller and have to have the seat set high you would have problems.

My only problem with the mirror is that it is a bit of a stretch to reach the dipping knob, but then my wife says I'm stumpy!!

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

As a 6 footer myself, I was wondering whether having the heated front windscreen makes any difference to the standard mirror position?

I realise that this hasn't been an option for too long so I may have to wait until we get our SM (currently schedules for the start of November)

to find out.

Phibes.

If you have not ordered your car the solution is noted on this thread point number 1:

As to fishing wire?! Why?! How does Mr Autoglass get the mirror off? It just clips onto a pre-glued bit on the windscreen. So if you are happy to live with the old bit below the repositioned mirror just clip it off and somehow refix it higher up.

OR order a with-light-sensor windscreen and sell the current one on eBay.

Looking at TP's Yeti photostream on Flickr I saw these pictures he took that might help:

Showing what an unclipped mirror looks like above and below the bit that comes with the windscreen.

i read all the comments about mirror height before mine arrived,......1600 miles into ownership, i can honestly say i hvant had any issues with mine, and im 6ft tall..with my seat set high

yea ,I'm not gonna touch mine. It dont bother me so much and I'll probably get used to it after a while.

The only time I have some problems is when taking right hand turns. Then I cant see and have to bend myself to left side.(left hand drive). Solution to this is to avoid right hand turns ,lol.

By the way I'm 6'1" and have seat placed around the middle hight.
