Electric window fault

Featured Replies

A couple of months ago the drivers side window switch started playing up on my 01 fabia Tdi. The switch wouldnt always lower the window unless the switch was pushed into the auto drop possition. Going up was all ok.

Today i get into the car, drive to work and the fault has righted itself. Comming home i go to lower the window, and for some reason the drivers side switch now works the passenger side and vice versa, and the fault is now on the passenger window

No one has messed about with the car as the keys have been in my pocket all day

Has anyone any ideas?, Are the windows ecu controlled or just old school wired?

Mine did this (the swapping) when it rained. Either leave it a day or two and it should self correct, or reset all the electrics by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. I think they're controlled by there own separate ECU (comfort or convenience unit) which deals with mirrors, c/l, windows etc.
