which oil?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to use 5w 40 oil in my 2002 vrs??

thanks

Its recommended to use 5w/30 fully synthetic, i would just use that.

Skoda now puts 5w40 in all The cars they service apart from longlife. Was told that by my dealer.

As i said above, if you go to your local dealer they'll now sell you Quantum fully synthetic 5w40, when i asked why he just said Skoda has decided all normal sevice cars are to have 5w40. Confused me but at under £25 for 5 litres i wasn't complaining lol

I put Quantum Platinum 5w40 in mine the oil change before last with no ill effects. And it was a hell of a lot cheaper than 5w30 Castrol Edge I usually put in.

Yes you can use 5w/40 for fixed servicing as long as the oil meets VW spec 505.01.

If its got 505.01 on the label, thats okay, if not do not use.

I use Ultralub's 5/40 is a good oil from here Venexirla and is fully syntetic
