How much and what to look for....

Featured Replies

A (girl)friend of mine is looking for a new car. Shortlist is:

Cheap to run (all round not just fuel)

Reliable

Options for audio

Budget is around £4000-4500 tops.

Does a Furby vRS fit that? How are things these days? What do I need to look out for and any other suggestions for other cars? She likes either black or silver. Thanks guys.

Fabia 1

Fabia 2

Fabia 3

Shows you can get a nice standard one below 5 k!

if it was me i'd avoid sites like Pistonheads because theres an aweful lot of b.s on there and chavved up motors, i'd pick a nice standard one

2 there are around the 5k mark but that doesnt mean you cant barter and knock it down £500 B)

Cool, if it's achievable, it's definitely on the shortlist. Would obviously prefer to buy from a brisky member if poss, but we'll see.

Any other ideas? Or is the Furby where it's at? (She loves my Octy!)

For the price there really isn't anything that can match it for pace, economy, looks, spec

Other option i can think of is the Ibiza FR tdi 130 basically the fabia vrs's sister car

just depends what one you like more really

the prices seem to have dropped recently?? emoticon-0112-wondering.gif i paid £6350 4 a 55 with 65k from a dealer with fssh only 5months ago....

couldnt find anything with less than 100k for under 5k at the time

check out my grande punto (link in sig) £4500 much more kit than the vRS, has been more reliable than my vRS was, and brakes and handles better as standard.cheaper insurance due to standard ESP, plus its an 07, a whole 4 years younger than the vRS's on offer at that price!, but not less miles ;) and NCAP 5 with 6 airbags

Thanks guys. She won't consider yellow, but that's a bloody good example to start with.

Lupo TDI anyone? Aside from that, if we are looking at a vRS what do I need to look for. Is it as simple as FSSH, cambelt and bushes? Looking for an "easy" purchase here, with little grief.

My mate has a lupo tdi!

We all laugh at it

Enough said!

Yea, just make sure its what you want, check the condition of it, make sure the Cambelt was done at 60K or 4Yrs whatever came first. Drive it thats the best way to tell if somethig is up with it!
