This guide should be what you are after:

vRStu's Site Click Here

It's for installing the MFD2/3, but the first bit covers removal of the factory HU

Yep, spot on - that's the guide to follow

Not difficult, especially once you've done it a few times

The guide linked to above is pretty comprehensive, I'd just add that the best way to get your fingers underneath the bottom of the trim is to have the ash tray lid open halfway. Also, don't worry too much about damaging the trim, it's pretty robust, and if you do happen to damage it, a replacement from Skoda is only between £5-£10.

If you're going to be playing around behind the headunit I'd also recommend removing the upper central storage box/air vent unit, makes things much easier.

Yep, that's the way I always do it with the ashtray. Gets it easily started that way.

Thanks alot guys

For some reason, I found the top edge of the trim would not come off, no matter how much levering. However, it is possible to extract the stream unit through the existing hole. As others have mentioned, the trim is very durable and can be bent a bit to enable the HU to pass through.

The top edge can be a bit tricky, mainly because it's the thinest part, so 'persuading' the clips out of the dash can be a bit of a challenge! I normally use a trim release tool the first time to coax it out. A corner of a credit card or similar would also do the trick I'd imagine.

There is no switched live at the back of the stereo you need to run the wire to the fusebox on the drivers side and pick up a switched live from there

as the CAN bus controls the on off of the radio the radio live is always on

Its a Nokia kit

I fitted a Nokia CK-7W into my Octy 2. Use the guide from vRSTu's web site because it shows the connections in the radio for the speakers and the yellow wire to cut out the radio when the phone rings. There should be a red and blue feed (fused) which you can run to the fuse box and pick up your feed from there.

I also opened up the mic and fitted it in the interior light compartment.

You'll need to run a switched live from the fuse box.

Stu's site details the repair wires, so all good.
