VRS - Help with Fault Codes

Featured Replies

Hello,

We have a problem with my partner's Fabia VRS. The traction control warning light keeps coming on after a few miles of driving - (about 7 miles on the motorway and 4 miles on other roads). I'm not sure if it's distance or time related at the moment or whether that's a complete red herring! It disappears once the car is restarted.

My local garage put it on a diagnostic machine and it came up with the following fault code: 18265 load signal error message from ECU P1857 intermittent. They think it's a fault on the EMU - they're not sure whether it will need to be replaced or whether the faulty component can be changed. They've offered to try sourcing second hand parts but aren't sure whether new parts would have to used and coded to the car. I guess the next stage is to take it to a skoda garage but I'd like to understand more about possible causes/solutions.

I'd be grateful for any advice you could give me.

Thanks

That code simply means a fault is stored in the ECU. If there are no other codes stored, suspect an intermittent ABS sensor, or a tyre with an incorrect profile. If your really unlucky, it's the ECU itself.
