2 questions on used octavia purchase

Featured Replies

As a very happy 57 plate skoda octavia diesel estate owner from new I'm about to purchase a 54 plate Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi PD Ambiente SE with 78k on the clock. I'm buying from a main dealer and have the following 2 questions:

what should i look for when testing the car?

how do i know if its a Octavia I or Octavia II and should i be concerned by the mark?

2004 = Mark II

Unless its an ex-taxi which may mean it could be a Mark I

If it looks like your 57 plate, then mk2. Simples ;)

On a 54 plate it could easily be a Mk1 or Mk2, however you should easily recognise if it's a Mk1 as it would look quite different to your 57 plate. If you go to parkers.co.uk and go to reviews you can look at reviews for both mk's and also gives advice etc

Wasn't there a major change in the bonnet /wing shape?

Completely different cars ;)

Simple test. Look at the rear lights. If the white section is two separate horizontal bars it's a Mk. 1. If it's a sideways "U" shape it's a Mk. 2.
