Featured Replies

Take delivery of my Superb Estate tomorrow (and get rid of a horrible MSport 318d I've had on loan). Skoda ordered end of April so around 19 week wait. :| :|

Spec:-

170 Elegance

Manual

Storm Blue metallic

Ivory trim

Luna alloys (thermistor look like they will be difficult to clean).

Look forward to seeing the photos. Mine allegedly had a build week of last week so hopefully getting closer....Maybe even en-route - who knows!?!!!

Me too.. built last week.. just awaiting delivery. Maybe they are sharing the journey together?

Winchester and on to Stroud....here's hoping but based on Gordon ordering his end of April and getting delivery tomorrow and mine being mid May - I have a horrible feeling they are going to delay me further

According to the dealer they give a build week and "Usually", it then takes 3 weeks to traverse the North Sea to Sheerness, then transported to the dealership, where they can turn it around within 48 hours and deliver to me....

Car delivered this morning - first impressions - stunning!

Very quite (quiter than my prvious BMW 3 series/Honda CRV/Accord Tourer/Volvo V70/A4 Avant), smooth, and quick (on basis of running-in/short shifting through box!).

Storm Blue looks good (especialy in the sun), ivory looks great but kids will have riot act read to them to keep mucky feet etc off!

Great feel-good factor and general aloofness when driving such a rare machine B)B)

I'll try and post some pics in due course.

Looking forward to those pics! Are the thermistor alloys the standard elegance ones?

Just received this from the dealer - was DUE to be build week 35

I have gone "live" on the Skoda Locator System and it is showing, "scheduled to be built" Week 41, which means that it "should" be built week commencing 11th of October 2010.

We can if required, offer you a vehicle from Skoda until your vehicle arrives, if that is a situation that might arise.

Due to the huge demand pressure on the factory for production, Skoda are offering this as a goodwill gesture to their customers with extended delivery times.

If you do need to take up this offer of a relief vehicle, please e-mail me back, and I will do the rest for you without hesitation.

ARGH!!!!!

ARGH!!!!!

That is bad.. mine was due to be built week 34, and I am still waiting for the dealer to confirm whether it was built or not... lets hope! I suppose you can have one of their cars and use it for free for a while.. may as well.

Yes they are the twin 7 spoke ones fitted to most Elegance's. The Luna's are 6 spoke, no cost option wheels.

So far so good.

Quiet, smooth, relaxed, outstanding on mway, economical, quality fittings, Q car quick and very rare. Looks are very understated and it always gets a second glance.

Just washed for the first time and comes up a treat - paintwork excellent. B) B) B) B)

Sat nav is crap - last car was Honda CRV and sat nav far better - I'm aghast that VAG offer columbus as high end kit without full postcode search and crappy disjointed voice instructions.

Drivers seat not as comfy as V70 (niggle on right hand hip) but not as bad as made out.

Contrary to other posts on this site I'm happy with sound system - plenty of mid range and enough bass (although my ears are shot after years of motorcycling!).

Bi-xenon Lights are 'kin awesome

I've not had the pleasure of seeing a Storm Blue estate in the flesh. Saw a hatch some time ago under the full glare of showroom lights and it looked stunning - almost shiny speckles in the brilliant gloss paint....but that was under artificial showroom conditions.

What's it like in the real world? Understand that in bright sunlight it will come alive, but under normal conditions does it still stand out or fade to a much flatter blue? Am deciding whether to go Storm Blue or Amethyst Purple (another colour which changes with the light, I think).

AH - You are correct - Storm Blue (similar shade to VW pacific blue I think) is great in strong sunlight but does flatten out when the light is less bright - I'm OK with this as I like a car that blends in (my last car an 08 CRV in met grey was similar). Amethyst Purple was my second choice but I hadn,t seen one in the flesh to compare (still haven't). I suspect AP will hide the winter grime better - particularly salt residue.

SWMBO took it to work this morning (I'm now relegated to bicycle!) and I must say it looked very good in the early autumn sun (the car not SWMBO :( :( ) - very classy B)B)

Any pics yet?

Waiting for some strong sunlight...........could be a while :smirk:

I'm glad it's not just me who is disappointed in the sat nav. Much prefer my TomTom with John Cleese providing directions. I'm still trying to find a really comfortable seat position. The E-class I had for a week was alot more comfortable, as was the 530d I tested, but I'm still delighted with my Superb purchase. I went for Themisto over Luna, thought it looked nicer (although I'm sure more difficult to clean).

Looking forward to the photos.

I've just acquired a set of 4 Luxon alloy wheels, which will be used for winter months - unless anyone wants to swop a set of Luna's for them...

The good news is that i didnt pay anywhere near the full price, the bad news is, they will be a sacrafice, but, worth it - self employed, means i MUST get to work during winter months.

Theses are Thermisto by the way...

CCH800001.jpg

So, they are the same finish, but have 9 pairs, rather than 7 pairs of spoke (yeay, more spokes to clean.... :dull: )

With regard to the Nav, i had a Pioneer HD3-BT in my last car - wow, was it good!

The columbus took a bit of getting used too, and could do with an update.

Programming is a pain, but, the actual information it displays and the speed in which it re-gigs a new route if you muck it up, greatly outweighs it's problems. (IMHO of course)

But, as said, 7 Digit Post Code would be a distinct advantage. (and in my case, a mobile phone which works with rSAP would also be desirable! - roll on 21st October - Up-Grade date)

Al.
