Superb steering

Featured Replies

It's great to find such an active forum with new members every day. Testament to how popular Skoda are becoming(?).

After 12 years of riding bikes, I've decided that I've finally had enough of riding through the winter. Old age maybe, or perhaps common sense has finally dawned on me. So I picked up a year-old Superb 2.5V6 TDi from Ballamy's of Shoreham (West Sussex) last week. As I'm expecting to spend quite a bit of time crawling along the M25, I plumped for the auto gearbox. After the bike, I can hardly come to terms with such comfort and luxury :).

Not that I'm new to Skoda, though, as my wife's had an Octavia for nearly 5 years (also a diesel). After 90K miles it hasn't missed a beat, so why would I even look at another manufacturer?

But a question about the Superb...the steering seems a little vague at the centre point (ie: when going straight on). There's no play, but I seem to have to move the wheel further than expected to get a response, which makes keeping in a straight line a little tricky. Turning the wheel a little further and then it seems to respond more quickly and I end up steering too much. I'm kind of getting used to it, but is this a known 'feature' of the car, or should I get Ballamy's to have a look at it?

Other than that I really like the car. Not sure that I'll get used to sitting in traffic jams, though :-(.

Mines very similar, so dont worry too much.

Welcome by the way :)

Thanks Andy...I'm sure that I'll get used to it.

Cheers,

Gorgeous engine you have there.

What trim level is the car?

Profile says it's an Elegance.

Full-on Luxo-Barge i believe is the phrase :D

Ok, I hadnt bothered to look..silly me.

Defo the best option...(lucky git he is ;) )

Now how do I go about hyjacking 1 barge from another?? ;):D

Yes that's right - Elegance. If I'm giving up 2 wheels for 4, then it'd better be worth it :D
