pick car up sunday 19th *car care*

Featured Replies

hey guys and girls, i pick my fabia vrs up next sunday the 19th i believe it is :)

whenever i get the car home i want to treat it to a good wash lol im not too sure on the best method or order of washing, polishing and waxing etc so if anyone could shed so light please do so :)

as the car is silver would i be best to use products specific for silver cars (whats the best products?) or just general car care products?

also do i wax before polishing or vise versa? and does polishing or waxing seal the paintwork as you here people mention or do i need a sealant for this? ive looked at car care kits and lots contain something called detailing spray whats the role of this?

basically i want to give my car a detail (if thats the correct term) like the pro's do, minus the buffer etc just good old elbow grease. just would like to know the best products for doing this and the best way to go about it :) all knowledge please be shared :)

ive seen claying being mentioned but again not too sure on this?

many thanks, jordan :)

Hi,

I think the order for a decent detail should be roughly as follows but I'm no expert;

Snowfoam (if you have the facility)

Rinse

Wash

Rinse

Dry (with a towel rather than chamois preferably - look at kent drying towels, very cheap and recommended by most people in the know)

Clay (Bilt hamber clay is good/cheap and only needs water as a lube)

(Possible wash/rinse/dry again after clay?)

Polish

Glaze (if you want to)

Wax

A lot of people recommend poorboys products or dodo juice products. The best place to research and answer all your questions is Detailingworld forums... some people on there amaze me with there extensive knowledge.

Once I have some spare cash I think i'll get some poorboys blackhole glaze and some collinite 476 wax. At present I just use Autoglym SRP and turtlewax precision wax.

Regards

Marc
