Why material liners in rear wheel arches ..plastic at front?

Featured Replies

Noticed this.......Won't the material attract all the muck and deteriorate after repeated contact with water ...

and be impossible to wash clean?????

Hi again,

have been fitting this type of material in the rear arches of VAG vehicles for quite some time now, supposed to reduce the sound of tyre roar :wonder: not had any issue yet of degrading. Personally like the unclean wheel arch look on the Yeti, makes her look like she's been used 'in anger' so to speak :giggle: but seriously the fronts tend to look worse than the back.

I assume jet washing (karcher) is OK.

Why wouldn't it be?

No worse than hitting a puddle at 60, as I seemed to be doing most of the way to work this morning.

After washing, I brush the rear wheel arch liners down with a damp microfibre cloth. No problems so far and makes them look like new.

I suspect it's to reduce spray.
