HEADLAMP REMOVAL

Featured Replies

HI THERE

how do i remove the headlamp on a 07 mk2 octy

You will find a white plastic wing nut behind the headlight cluster.

Unscrew this and remove to a safe place

at the front base of the cluster there is a body coloured hook .

Pull this..Its quite hard first time...I used a cloth around it.

Its then a simple matter of gently coaxing the headlight unit forward.

To remove it completely you will need to remove the wiring plug (Easy)

To replace make sure you line up the unit exactly or it will get stuck.

It just slides back in.

Probably someone before you fitted after-market HIDs and made holes for the cables to the ballasts

+1, that would be my guess.

Sidelights are 501 bulbs if memory serves.. I changed mine for some LED canbus jobs, work well really!! 5 quid off ebay... and if you find the white wingnut and black thread are knackered then you will be pleased to hear you can get these replaced for about 4 quid at a dealer!!!

A nice thin long nose pliers does the job.
