Uprated dump valve?

Featured Replies

Okay have done some searching and it seems most people suggest for remap - AWESOME GTI (1.8T Octavia 4X4 2002) that a uprated dump valve is needed. Bailey or Forge.

I think I will go for the BAILEY one...a couple of questions (here he goes again!!!):

[1] Do I have to adjust the dump valve at all? If so how?

[2] Where to order from? Item number and link would be great...I'm not lazy just fear knowing me I will order the wrong one!

[3] How to fit? Mentions somewhere to get jubilee clips...what size?

[4] If and when done how do I know if all is okay?

Please bear in mind this is a complete novice asking...thanks to all in advance.

Forge mate its made for the car....Bailey is no good it will throw CEL light on

The Forge unit is good.

You can 3 different springs to put inside to tune it.

The Forge 007p is a good an popular one mate, toonable too with the springs and plates. Second hand on ebay for around 60 notes and new for around 90.

Bailey dv 26 iirc is the one to avoid. Atmospheric this will make a nice sound but throw faults from time to time depending on situation. Not always tho.

Bailey dv30 is the other to go for. This is similar to the 007p. Good valve by all accounts. I think its a bit more than the Forge one tho hence the Forge being popular. Won't throw faults as its the same as the std DV ie recerculating.

The size of holes is 25mm I think it is.

Watch out for cheap copies too.

Most of the posts show people for BAILEY DV30 or the FORGE...so FORGE is better?

They are both very similar although the forge is slightly cheaper, even more so if you buy the awesome gti one.

Either one will be good enough for what you need, ive got the awesome gti forge 007p on my vRS

Edit: EN-TU-18T-RDUMPAWE1 thats the product code for the awesome gti one.

Had a Bailey (DV30), never put the engine light on.... Only down side was it needed servicing a lot. (every 12 months or so)

APR 'R1' was great, but expensive, only changed from this because my new setup uses boost pressures of 30-32psi

You cant go wrong with a Forge 007P though!!

i've got a bailey DV30 which is second hand off ebay, occasionally it sticks open when it gets hot after idling for a while. recommend a forge.

I've got a compbrake one on my vrs, seems well made and is tunable with different springs just like the forge one, best of all it's only £45 including postage

Thanks for the advice...I think I may go for a FORGE...are Compbrake well know....is adjusting these dump valves straightforward....

Does the FORGE need servicing?

Edited by Aaquil

A few prople on here have got the compbrake.

In terms of adjustting the forge its just screwing the top off and changing the spring, it couldnt be simpler really.

The standard green spring is ok for stage 1 etc. I think people only change them at stage 2 and above.

Thanks for the advice will order a FORGE...

yes forge needs servicing every so often too, take apart clean and regrease.

compbrake is much better value if its only £45!

Comp brake is the same as the forge just take the top off.

Right so Compbrake best one to go for i terms of reliability and cost?

Where do I buy one from?

Yup that's it. You'll need some hose clamps aswell, I was lucky I already had them after the last owner put a split r on but removed it lol

What size hose clamps please...

Thanks a lot for the link will order one today.

Sivrs...just ordered dump valve thank you for the link.

what are the split r dv's like?

Sivrs...just ordered dump valve thank you for the link.

No probs

what are the split r dv's like?

Most people say a waste of time and don't make much more noise, plus they are apparently really hard to set up right

Got the Compbrake Dump Valve today nice and shiney just like the FORGE ones.; I know that the smallest clip that is fitted is highly likely to break and need replacing...so I went to Halfrauds, B&Q and Maplin and no hoseclips that small...help I need one!!

Where can I get a tiny hose clip from?

Go to Halfords and look for their petrol pipe clips, I think their smallest ones are 8-9mm which tighten down to 5-6mm so should be fine for very small hoses.

If you mean the vac hose on top of the DV you can hold that on with just a cable tie and it will be fine.

what are the split r dv's like?

Works out slightly cheaper than buying a 007P and a Cold Air Intake but they don't sound as loud as that set-up, and as said above they need to be set up carefully and adjusted if you remap it otherwise there's a good chance they will leak.

This is my old one fitted to my car, I've replaced it with a 007P.
