Would 15" VW steels fit over 256mm rear brakes?

After being told (I WAS delighted...) at Combe 14" stock Fabia steels will not fit over 256mm rear brakes,.... I began the look out for some replacements and locally a set of 15" steels have popped up, originally from a Seat Leon. Any thoughts?

i'd av thort if 16" fit over 312 then 15" gotta fit over 256..

Well, I hope so. 14" fit over front 256mm brakes, but not rears as they are shaped / sit differently.

im currently taking the chance that the a set of 15" steels fit over the Std Vrs front setup, as i have managed to get my hands on a set for the time it takes to refurb the alloys *fingers crossed*

The mk3 Golf GTI and VR6 came with standard 15" wheels and they had 280mm front discs (later ones even had 288mm front discs, but still came with 15" wheels), so they should easily clear 256mm discs

It's the shape of the caliper which is the issue, not the size of the disc. Rear brakes stick out a lot more than fronts of the same size, hence the issue.
