Build week 41 moved to week 44

Featured Replies

Well this is what happens when you fiddle with your order. But then I will live with this car for a long, long time. Just off the phone with my dealer. Adding the DSG, electric seat, folding mirrors and changing my car's colour has moved my build week from 41 to 44. And remember I ordered in week 14! emoticon-0106-crying.gif A THIRTY WEEK wait.

Total pain but like you say the car has to be what you 'want' as you are going to have to live with it for some time - worth it for 3 extra weeks I suppose. My 140 Elegance gets built week 39, getting a tad excited now.

It is a minor pain adding 3 more weeks to be honest. From the start I said I wanted DSG and I was yearning for the electric seat and to have folding mirrors. Now I have them! I'm actually over the moon that I'm able to get these for ONLY a three week extension to my wait! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

I was told I couldnt have the electric seat etc as my build week had been moved forward a week to 39, which is bloody typical when you dont want it they move it !!!.....when you want it sooner you cant. Sods law in action. I would gladly add a few weeks on to have the electric bits.

Oh no!!!! Darn! Sorry to hear that! But at least it is not a February build anymore as before!

Very tempting to change things or have second thoughts when you have to wait this length of time. Trying to avoid having second thoughts or update my order but must say I am tempted by the folding mirrors.

I suppose another three weeks won't be too much of a hardship after your 30 weeks wait. I'm going to leave well alone and hope week 41 will see the birth of my little baby.

Mines gone from build week 41 to 44 as well, but that was before adding the electric seat/mirrors.

Not sure what's going on with dates these days, I asked my dealer last week if it was possible to add any extras to my order (originally week 41), and was told no, as it was now being built next(which is this)week.

I'm mildly hacked off as it seems that some people have been able to change their orders and some havent. I even dropped the ever helpful James from Allams Skoda, a note, to see if he could shed any light or give advice, but he didnt reply. I'm not complaining, he's not my dealer, there's nothing in it for him, he just struck me as a really helpful guy and was just trying every avenue to see if I could get the electric seats and mirrors added.

Oh well, every cloud has a silver lining, if it gets built this week, I should be picking it up Mid October, which is good.

I think it would be infinitely better if when you order a car you are told EXACTLY what the position is with cut off dates to make changes to your order, so at least there is no ambiguity and everyone knows what the rules are. There are various 4 week rules being bandied about but that varies depending on who the information comes from.

Just a coherent policy from the outset would be nice so we all know where we stand with an order. Is that too much to ask ?

James was in a meeting all afternoon & evening.

To be fair to James he would probably tell you what he has said on here in similar threads about this, which was the 4 week to build date cutoff point after which they cant change the order, so not a lot he could have added and if he didnt answer its usually because he just isnt available !

I too cannot have a change to my order but as the car is now being built end of Sept I wasn't really expecting it to be possible. Hey ho !

Guys

Quick update, James just replied to me, so thanks very much to him for taking the time out to speak to one of us who isnt even his customer. What a great ambassador for the Brand.

Unfortunately, IF they're building my car this week, then I'm doomed to live without theelectric folding mirrors, which is something I really did want , but dropped off my 'must have' list in order to buy the Yeti.

Its not the end of the world but is seems a tad unlucky to suddenly have the build date brought forward when I asked if changes could be made......I would have been much happier if my build date had been put back in order to make the changes, but that doesnt appear to be an alternative.

I assume you've checked that your build week is 38?

I did try and add the option of redandwhitepaulys W39 Yeti but it was rejected because the order had been confirmed for build.

No idea, was just told by the dealer (last week), that it was now being built 'next week', (which is now this week).

Didnt really think to ask about week numbers. I was originally told my car was showing as a build week 41, then, after asking about options, I'm told the car is being built 4 weeks early, which may be true, its just really frustrating as I really wanted the folding mirrors....

I have been just told that my Yeti which I ordered week 30 and was expecting to be built week 42 has moved to week 2.emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

It may move back to this year.

This is what happens when you change the order:

CR140 DSG, Elegance in *white, Gobi with *electric seat/mirrors, *columbus, *sound system, rough road, tyre pressure, spare wheel, park assist, heated windscreen.

*changed/added.

I already have the incompatible internal bike carrier for when I want to carry my bike without a spare wheel!

As other dates slip back, this makes build slots available earlier for others as the factory will not just leave a hole in the production line. Its far easier to swap a couple of cars in production, than move all cars up one in the queue as it effects more than just 2 cars.

I wonder what options, or lack of them , translate into earlier build dates?

I only ordered mine last week, so have no idea when its likely to be built yet.

They are still a very rare sight on the roads though, went on a 500 mile round trip yesterday and today and only saw 2. Yeti is a pretty apt name! lol

Contacted Skoda Customer Services to ascertain whether there was ANY chance at all of changing my order

"Oh sorry sir, once your order is in , you cant change it"

I explained to him about this forum , about the 4 week 'rule' and how some lucky beggars had been able to change their orders, the reply was :

"Well, thats what we've been told..."

Expectation levels met I'm afraid................

My build week has moved back to week 47. A big improvement.

Been told to keep checking with the dealer every 2 weeks or so, as at the moment build dates are all over the place.

I was told by my dealer that Skoda (UK) decides how many cars it is going to sell once a year. That allocation is then given to the factory. So it is very hard for them to make any more UK cars. The world wide recession hasn't helped. Neither has China.

Skoda UK were supposed to have been allocated 1700 approx. (or was it 1400) more octavia's, but they have been diverted to China, which would appear to be a huge grown area for Skoda. That is where all the Yeti's are going as well from what I understand.

Waiting times for octavia's and Yeti's - delivery in Feb/March now. Not sure about the others.
