Pressure Washer Advice

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I think it is about time I started washing my own car.

After reading other threads here I see that a foam lance maybe the way forward - for a nice clean car.

Something along the lines of:

Problem?

Well it would probably help if I had a pressure washer to attach this to :)

So I'm seeking advice.

My dear mum has said she'll buy me the washer for me birthday (bless her).

So what is good in the world of pressure washers, probably budget no higher than around the £100 mark?

Karcher seem to get good write-ups and the foam lance will definitely attach.

Advice/ideas greatly welcomed!

Before you go down the Karcher route have a look around for Nilfisk, Screwfix and Argos do good deals on these, they are well built and soild just like Karcher, attachments can be sourced for Foam Lances and better vaule for money for under £100.........

I own that model and IMHO it's pretty gutless. Probably OK if all you want to do with it is wash your car and very light duty stuff, but not up to the job if you want to pressure wash you patio for example.

Thanks for that.

The plan is to add a foam lance and really use it for the car.

Not so bothered about the patio - we'll let the rain do that LOL.

What is the foamer nozzle like with the Nilfisk kit? IS it suitable to snow foam a car or would I still need to spend £40 on a snow foam nozzle as well?

It probably compares well to a Glimour or something similar, for me it's better to invest in a HD Foam Lance to get the flexibility of mising the Snow Foam Ratios............

From what I'm reading, investing £45 on the snow foam nozzle is the way forward.

So with the C110 being around £50, expect to spend £100 on the whole setup.

Which I still feel is good value.

Cheers for the replies and being a bit stupid but what is the benefit of mixing/changing the ratios? What does this do? How would I know what to change it too? Am I right in thinking a snow lance would mean I would not need to contact clean the car? Or does it just limit the amount of rubbing I need to do?

I have 2 cars to clean (wifes and mine) with limited time so anything that can get the job done as well with less time the better. Was thinking I could foam one car and leave it to dwell while foaming the other car and then go back and rinse it off.

A HD Foam Lance has the ability to change the amount of Snow Foam you running though it and also the amount of water it's mixed with, it also allows you to adjust the width of the Snow Foam that is being sent out of the end of the lance.

For me I do not use Snow Foam to clean my car, waste of time, if the car has been protected and sealed, then a simple rinse and two bucket method is all I use as the dirt has little chance to stick to the paintwork.

If your cars have not been clayed and sealed then you will find the snow foam will more than likely remove some of the dirt and muck on there but don't expect not to have to wash the car as well, for me Snow Foam is a bit of a gimmick..........

I use Snow Foam all the time...

Not everyone's washing regime..but if I snow foam and rinse.....

I can dry off without having to use a bucket and wash mitt at all...unless its really dirty
