New TSI Fabia

Featured Replies

Folks

Some help please I am going to order a new Fabia 1.2TSI Elegance manual(my wife couldnt get the hang of DSG) but my problem is

85 BHP or 105 BHP I am leaning towards the 85BHP as it seems fine for performance but was wondering if anyone can give any advice or experience.

Also no ESP so adding this as an option but dont know whether to go for ESP or ESP PLUS is it worth another 100 pounds for HHC(hill hold control). Does any one have HHC is it good.

Finally as the sales person is rubbish can you plz let me know what having a MDI cable added as an accessory does for me. I think it means a usb plug into which I can plug in a usb storage for playing music?

Thank you in advance

Hi,

by coincidence my wife has just taken delivery of a Elegance TSI 85 with the ESP Plus. Not driven the 105 version so cannot compare but the 85 feels brisk enough (for us anyway) and has no issues traversing the hills of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Due to the hills around here was also the reason we went for HHC; it makes a hill start that much easier, particularly if you pull up behind something stopped and then have to get going again almost straight away. Don't have to worry about the handbrake as the HHC holds the brakes long enough to balance the clutch and pull away.

Regard the MDI I'm no help on that one I'm afraid, just stuck to the standard radio setup other than the optional steering controls.

Posted a first review of our Fab here My link & My link

TP

Hi Blue, I can contribute on MDI.

It provides a digital access socket point for digital music files.

You then need a short adaptor lead with an MDI plug to either;

1. USB - For a USB stick / MP3 player

2. Mini USB - for a miniUSB MP3 player

3. Iphone/Ipod - To plug these in.

These leads are £20 - £26 from dealers, less from ebay.

Why would you want it?

It enables you to have a lot of music available in the car without having loads of CDs kicking about.

In addition the file and track names can be displayed on the stereo so you can find your way through them.

I have a £35 hard disk drive plugged in mine now, with my complete music collection of the last 25 years on it!

Thank you both for your replies.

That covers all my points and sells me on a 1.2tsi 85bhp with MDI and esp plus.

Did throw in heated front seats cause i'm not as young as I used to be.

I've had my tsi elegance 85 since may. Most of my driving is around town and a few motorway blasts now and then and for me its fine. I have to keep remanding myself its a 1.2

My only concern is ESP or ESP plus.

On the release of the brake it holds for 2 secs approx is this no matter what ie you can not move until this time has passed.

No, it will just stop the car rolling back for 2 seconds. You can pull away at any time.

What's the difference between ESP and ESP Plus?

My ideal spec would have included heated seats too! I had these in my previous TDi Fab.

Until you have them, you dont realise just how good they are. I bet we used them 6 out of every 12 months, you are warmed up after 100 yards travel from cold.

Especially useful in a diesel that takes a bit more time to warm up.

However, a bonus for me was after a good workout playing tennis or badminton, they stopped my dodgy back from going creaky. Well missed.

Hope you get your car soon Blue, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Hi,

ESP Plus is ESP with Hill Hold Control (HHC) and Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPM) as a package.

Now ordered but wont be here till January. Just keep driving my faithfull old Fabia till then. No Vat at the moment was great but my sales person needs to know his product better or at least he should keep logged into this site for all those hard questions he was getting from me like.

Does your car have ESP answer Hmmm

We have been using the heated seats in our new Fabia these past couple of mornings and they are great. Heat up quickly and unlike previous cars which seem to heat just the base/bottom of the seat, the heat goes a fair way up the back too. I'm also surprised how quickly the heater starts to blow warm then hot air - quickest of any car I've owned so far.

Blue 4 You

Dont think you were being hard on them at all.....We spend large sums of money with dealers, a lot of whose staff give the impression they are not clued up on the products they are selling and/or just cant be arsed with nuisance customers.....GIven em HELL
