Few Questions RE vRS Bumpers, Brakes + Servicing

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have some questions, I think I know the answers to a couple of them but would like confirmation :giggle:

What would be involved in changing the front bumper on a post-facelift Fabia to a vRS item? I think the basic fixings are the same, but will need new foglights (and surrounds and grilles etc)?

To change a non-vRS Fabia to 312mm brakes, I understand I need to change something in the hub assembly for a vRS item as well as. Does anyone know what part(s) in particular? Diagrams or part numbers would be great :) I already know what calipers/ carriers etc are needed.

Finally, I have my big cambelt service coming up, and will be changing the waterpump and coolant at the same time. How much G12+ (or whatever it's called these days) coolant do I need for a full change in a 1.9TDi PD100?

Many thanks in advance,

Andrew

The bumper should be a straight swap, I don't think will need new fog lights as I believe they are the same as yours

Hmm, I was told different...must investigate :) Thanks.

Pretty sure they're different.. the vRS pre dates the facelift and as a result, although the fogs are the same shape the mountings are on a different axis...

The vRS items screw in from the top so no removal from the front of the car.. the revised ones screwed in from the front so they could be changed without taking the bumper off. Yours will be front facing screws as it's a face-lift.. you will need fog lights i'm afraid cuz (understandably) Skoda didn't make all new tools up for the vRS bumper when they revised the other models.

check though.. I've not seen a post 2005 vRS bumper in the flesh.

Thanks for that Rob. The reason I asked is I've had to replace both foglights in mine, and it was straightforward, but if it were a vRS I discovered I'd have to drop the front bumper. That explains why :)

Babababump :)

To change to 312mm brakes you need vRS/2.0 bearing carriers and new wheel bearings to press into them so you can bolt on the new carrier. Used ones are like hens teeth, the pair plus bearings set me back about £250 ish iirc when I did missp's.

That's good information, thank you for that  I take it that price is for them new?
