Speed Rating

Featured Replies

I am looking for new some tyres & I like what I read about rainsport 2's but they don't seem to come in a "W" rating only a "V" So I was wondering if it's ok to run V's on a fabia vrs??? Will it affect the insurance?

I have searched the forum & the owners manual with little success so am hoping one of you lot can help!

Thanks guys!!!

Personally, I wouldn't use a lower rated tyre, even if you know you'll never exceed the rating. Ultimately, I very much doubt your insurers wouldn't pay out, but you never know.

Seeing as a V-rated tyre is rated to 149 mph, I don't see it being a problem.

What size are you looking at ? - I have 205/45 R16 W rated rainsport 2 tyres on my ibiza at the moment.

The rating is not just for speed alone, it refers to the weight capability of the tyre i.e. load it can take.

Manufacturers usually build-in a margin either side but they don't recommend particular fitments for no reason.

The V rating DOES apply to the speed alone. - the load index is the number before the speed rating.

The Rainsport 2 with a V rating is perfectly ok when fitted to the Fabia vrs, and will not invalidate your insurance. - It is being used within both the tyre and the vehicles capabilities.

must be blackcircles then...

Got a good deal on toyo's so went for them in the end but may go with rainsports on the front when it's that time again.

Thanks for helpful replies :D

I had that problem at Blackcircles too. If you check the manufacturer's website it lists a W option...
