Candy White

Featured Replies

Am looking at a Candy white vRS but am put off a little as I fear it may be just as much grief to keep looking good as the black magic. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not got an Octavia but my Ibiza is Candy White.

Its regular work but not hard as such, just upkeep. But im like that with whatever car I have anyway and white looks amazing when clean.

Having had Candy white and Black Magic i'd say white is easier as it shows up less scratches etc than black.

My process is usually

Rinse

Snow foam

Rinse

Wash with Zymol

Rinse

Dry with waffle towel and Megs last touch

Polish with SRP

Wax with R222

Might have one or two washes inbetween with just the rinse, wash and last touch.

Got mine nearly 2 weeks back now, doesn't seem to dirty to easily really apart from the dead creatures on the front. Washed twice and back to looking new in 15 mins. Wet with a hose, 2 buckets one with asda car shampoo/wax in, one warm water, asda wash mit, dry with an asda chamois.....sorted for £4.

My wife's previous Fabia was Candy White.

It was registered in 2000, bought by her used in 2002, and p/ex'd for a new fabia in 2010.

She had some paint treatment done by the dealer (can't remember the brand now unfortunately) when she bought it. After that it generally had a wash every 2 weeks or so using Turtle Wax shampoo - no fancy washes/polishes were ever used.

It didn't seem to look too dirty even when left for several weeks or so during the winter. And when she came to sell, the bodywork shone as good as new.

i was impressed. I thought White would look dirty and be a pig to look after but I was wrong.

Picked up my candy white 3rd week of July. First weekend, I spent a day thoroughly cleaning and applying AG Lifeshine. 2 months and 4500 miles later, I've only given it a quick wash twice. My only gripe is that the front shows up the bugs, otherwise it doesn't get terribly dirty. My last car was silver, and I'd say the white doesn't appear any dirtier.

I have a black VRS, the GF has a white A3 convertible.... I have to clean them both :'( (in different ways they are both just as bad as each other to clean)

All you need for a nice white car is –

Mr Muscle window cleaner with vinegar for bug removal and cleaning windows

A bottle of white spirit for tar and other road stuff removal and a good wax like Meguiars to go over it afterwards

All works a treat and keeps the car looking as good as new.

Edit - The MR Muscle is for Bug Removal from paint work, spray some on to a soft cloth and gently rub and remove splattered bug......

Have both a black magic fabia vRS and a candy white Octavia vRS Combi. Bith show up the dirt in their own way.

Either is anymore of a misson to clean...................if you want easy then go for silver or the gun metal grey that is available.

Only thing that bugs me about the Candy White is the black streak marks that come from the rubber trim around the windows.

Thanks Guys

White seems to be a usable option - I'd like a metallic, silver blue or grey - but it's the lack of availability when you're looking at used.
