Oil stains around EGR. Is this normal?

Featured Replies

Ghanged the oil & filter today and I noticed black oil stains around EGR pipe. Only small amounts but why is it happening? Performance & sound of engine is normal. I think!!

At the back of the engine?

If so yes its pretty common, there is actually a small hole under the diapragm of the EGR valve that lets a little out.

I stripped off my EGR, cleaned it out with Carb cleaner... spent an afternoon on it.. and about 1 week later the gunk was spraying out of the hole again. :wonder:
