Seat belt pre tensioner

Featured Replies

Folks,

My front passenger seat belt pretensioner is broken and I've to replace it soon as it's nearing MOT. For 2002 Octavia, what make/model pretensioners would fit? I'm checking for all options, as Skoda dealers are saying they can't sell only the pretensioner and the whole package with seat belt comes around 104£. Looking for a cheaper option advice though.

Cheers.

Have a llok on ebay, or someone who is breaking an octavia.

I paid £35 for my passenger one, from westallc (a member one here).

When you say it's broken, how is it? Have you been in a crash?

If I try to push the buckle in to the pretensioner, it is not going through and click. But, as a work around, I have to press the pretensioner release button, insert the buckle, and then release the button. It hangs on fine then.

In eBay, there are no Skode pre tensioners. That's why I'm seeking advise for alternate make / model tensioner that would work with Skoda seat belt. VW tensioners would work?

Cheers.

That bit isn't the pre-tensioner, it's the buckle. The pre-tensioner is a different part, and is located behind the plastic trim at the side of the car. The P.T. is built into the seatbelt mechanism, and can't be replaced separately.

Have a look here: Catalog

Is the part you need item 4 on the diagram?

Thanks for the link boss. Yes, it's Part 4. Sorry, still I'm learning the car terms. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Cool, good stuff.

I think the p/n is 1U0858471, but it could be 1U0858471C, depending on your car.

Best check which one you need with the dealer.

hope this helps
