Loss of (lol) power on 13mpi

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, back again. The timing chain replacement never took place, foolishly managed to injure my back on my bike the week i was off. Anyway...its still noisy and its going to get done soon, but have also been getting a distinct loss of power lately. Goes fine up at 50+, but seems to take an age getting there. Makes all the right noises, not overrevving as such, just really sluggish.

Cant seem to make the clutch slip under load, and not long had new plugs and air filter.

Need ideas please! It may well be going the journey at xmas, and need her to be the all conquering snowmobile until then!

If the timing chain is that knackered it may be altering the valve timing enough to make it slower. Have you done other service things such as valve clearances?

I havent done the valve clearances yet, theyre on the list with the chain. Had a new fuel filter, air filter and plugs 6 weeks ago. Driving it today, she feels lumpy, which i would usually attribute to poor fuel delivery or failing ignition components, but all of my previous motors have had plug leads and dizzys, this is a micey mpi with the coil pack....

She was very quiet when i first got her, (62K on, now 79k - oil and air filter done 62, 70 and 77) .Sounds like a poxy ford now tho :(

By the sounds of that you might want to look at the valve clearances. The timing chain will be worth doing if it hasn't been done in the past.
