Goodbye Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Well after 1 year and 9 months I have traded in the Octy. Unfortunately have to say it has been the most hit or miss car for me ever, loved it to begin with and even more so after the stage 1 remap.

Biggest issue was with the gearbox costing me a whopping £1500 when the diff collapsed! I personally believe the gearbox in these cars does not take well to a higher torque map, LSD would probably have been the way forward but in the case of my old car not worth the money.

Replacement cars are:

1996 E36 BMW 328i Sport with LSD and 39k on the clock. Liking the BMW so far but knew I would RWD is great  Hoping this will turn out to be a good track toy.

2002 Honda Accord 1.8 sport. Slow but has been in family for years and reliable for everyday use. Plus side is it looks faster than it really is.

Well I am sure I shall be visiting here once in a while maybe even consider a newer Octavia vRS one day. Cheers for all the advice though

Best of luck with the new car you will need to keep your foot of the loud pedal with the new car or you will be spending another £1500 on extra fuel.bill

Yeah I am hoping to keep the mileage down in the BMW but it is so fun to drive, got 300 miles to a 62 litre tank last week. Used to normally get 330 miles with the Octavia but this has a slightly smaller fuel tank I think.

The Honda believe it or not is hardly any better on fuel than the BMW!
