OMP/Momo/Seat vs Forge Front upper strut

Featured Replies

Hello,

I currently have the OMP/Momo/Seat front upper strut. Recently I took it off for a few reasons and found that response has dulled obviously but also found going over pot holes much more forgiving (with a fair bit more bounce :S). I was wondering how does the forge one fair in comparison? From the pics of the Forge one it is adjustable and diameter of bar is slightly smaller. Has anyone tried both and found any difference?

wouldnt have thought it would make much difference really? emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I imagine the difference would be negligable

Really?

I would've thought it will be similar to the likes of Whiteline vs Jabba RARB..

Nah. The front strut brace makes little difference anyway, so trying to compare two things that don't make much difference wither way is fairly impossible.

Fair play, I'll keep it off for the winter then, thanks !

I'd agree - the RARB is under a much larger twisting force, where as the front strut brace acts mostly under compression and tension, i.e. the bar is resisting differences in its length rather than bending.

I wouldn't say "little" difference.. perhaps on it's own. I was running with a Whiteline RARB (made a massive difference) for a month or two and then fitted a SEAT Sport Front Strut brace and I'd confirm it makes a noticeable difference.

It's important to try and quantify that thoufg, I'm very sensitive to the cars motion.. every bump, lift and chassis sway I notice.. just the way I am, so I noticed the difference straight away. In a straight line is makes very little difference, on the corners it seems to add to the positive steering the rear ARB adds... Not to everyone's tastes I may add.

As with a lot of these modifications, some are obvious (Rear ARB), some are subtle (Upper Front Strut Brace) and some are often personal preference.. such as a stainless exhaust..

Thanks,

Phil.

Totally agree... i had same setup, whiteline rarb, fitted on car for a year before buying the seat momo front brace and i think it has made a real difference to the front end.

Agree with the two above - when front strut is on it does sharpen response in steering - the lag you get from turning the wheel to car movement, handling wise I cant say I've pushed each past the limit but feel its much more predictable when strut is on (obviously this will be the case since steering is more responsive you tend to get a better feel when the grip level as nearing its limits etc.). I also feel that in accelerating there is mild differences when strut is on i.e. increased torque steer.

The forces are different yes, but there is also a big 1.9 lump which i would've thought contributes to the compression & tension..

Anyway, I think more easier question would be.. For the people who have the Forge strut, have you ever tried setting the tension lower and found any difference?

I've had mine off for months

Never even noticed a difference

Im like that though i wont notice anything unless its a major leap
