Turbo Stutter - VRS PD

Featured Replies

Evening all...

Wondering if anyones come accross this (cant find anything by searching)

Have had my 56 PD for about 6 weeks now and loving it. However now i know it a little better i have noticed an issue with a dip in power when accelerating.

The turbo appears to kick in, stutter slightly (at around 2000revs), and then kick back (about 2750) in and take off...

Wondered if the combined knowledge of those on the forum have an understanding of this as a problem...

Is it something to be hugely concerned with a something i can sort myself...

Many thanks in advance...

Noone?

It could be a few things but it's quite likely that it's the turbo I'm afraid.

possible injector fault maybe?

It might be worth checking for any fault codes etc. As you have only had it 6 weeks. Did it come with a dealer warranty?

Unfortunately not...

Got a great VAG garage near me so it's time to take it to them i think....

It's something that i am able to 'live with' as it is only a slight stutter at the moment...

Worst case scenario what's the damage for a new Turbo?

Just sounds like the VNT is sticky from carbon build up. Very common. My Altea has the same issue. I just need to get around to fixing it. All it needs is cleaning out. Best way is to remove the turbo and remove the hotside to get to the vanes on the VNT. Best way to see if its sticky is to get the car on a ramp and push the VNT rod in and see how free it is. If its sticking or very stiff then its clogged up.
