How to change Temp Sensor on a VRS?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Mine is a 04 Fabia VRS

My Temp Sensor Warning Light comes on every morning (but usually not the second time when i start it in the same day)

Asked my local garage they think it is the Temp Sensor, because the coolant is not leaking or no other obvious fault.

They quoted around £85 to do the job.

I think it costs a bit too much.

So has anyone changed their Temp Sensor before on a VRS? Could you write a simple guide and advise to help?

I cannot even see where the Temp Sensor is.... :wonder:

Sld I get geniune parts or those on ebay are ok?

Cheers!!!

change your expansion tank or try and clean the contacts....

you sure its not just the low coolant light?

The expansion tank that keeps the coolant?

It is definitly not leaking and the coolant level is correct

Sorry do you mean the contact of the temp sensor?

So I will have to take the sensor out? How?

There's a level sensor in the coolant header tank, the contacts can and do corrode.

See here about that: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/174716-intermittent-coolant-light-issue/page__p__2115107__hl__header%20tank%20corrode__fromsearch__1entry2115107

In addition, there are two temperature sensors that can go on the fritz. Coolant temp and fuel temp. In think the symptom I had for the coolant sensor was a "vroom" to 1500RPM on startup followed by it settling back down to a normal idle. Eventually, the check engine light came on. At that point I got the sensor changed.
