strange problem

Featured Replies

hi everybody i need a little help here.

i have the TDI with 110ps ASV motor.

when i am changing gear from 1 to 2 (have low rpm ex. 1700rpm) and i press the pedal slowly to reach 2000 - 2100 rpm the car is kicking!!! when the rpm goes 2100 and up everything is ok!

what i have changed until now:

1)fuel pump (2 pumps)

2)injectors all of them

3)ECT SENSOR

4)crank sensor

the timing is correct double check

any ideas please?

What do you mean by 'kicking'?

can you be more specific?

Has it always done this?

Maybe his car has developed a cows hoof and kicks him in the face when he revs are between 1700-2100rpm?

More seriously, I wonder if he means the car is really stuttery / a bit like a learner driver who can't control the clutch and gets the kangaroo-style lurching down the road?

Have any fault code beet betected with vag-com or the like?

Does the car make a "wheezing" sound at the same time as the stuttering/learner-style-juddering

Mine sometimes stutters when cold at a similar-ish rpm (maybe a bit higher though), to which degree I have either blamed a vacuum leak, or sticky vanes in the turbo.

Pretty sure that mine has never logged any faults for this particular trick.

If you are displaying the instantaneous MPG (km/l), does the display go to --- when this happens?

my friend the display is --- permanently and there is smoke from exhaust

When I last saw something like this, it turned out to be the wiring to the fuel pump. In the pump there is a fuel cutoff valve, the commencement of injection valve and quantity adjuster (+sensors).

The other thing to look for is water around the ECU connectors

Try unplugging the MAF sensor. If the car runs better with it unplugged you have a a dying or dirty MAF.
