How do folding exterior mirrors work?

Featured Replies

First an admission, I've ordered a Yeti not Superb, but hopefully you're a helpful bunch all the same!

Since September the Yeti has been available to order with electric drivers seat and folding exterior mirrors (with usual memory function linking the two) and many of those of us ordering now are going with this option. The Superb has had this for quite some I believe and despite having read the Superb owners manual it is extremely confusing how the folding mirrors function and how 'automated' they are. So for those of you with folding mirrors ( and I am assuming here that the Yeti will function similarly which appears logical) can you let me know please.

Is it possible to have the mirrors fold out when unlocking the car with the remote and then fold in when locking up? This would seem reasonable to me but the manual doesn't make this clear

The manual appears to suggest that you hold the unlock button for two seconds to fold them out ?(but references the lock button in the diagram!!) but would that not see all the windows opening as well unless you tweak Maxidot?

If the mirrors stay folded when you unlock would they unfold when you hit a memory button on the seat or do the mirrors simply adjust to the memory position in the folded position leaving the driver to manually fold the mirrors out?

A brief but clear tutorial would be gratefully received or a pointer if these questions have been asked before.

Thanks

With the Superb: when locking with keyfob keep the locking button pressed for at least 2 seconds, the mirrors will start to fold in, you can then let go of the locking button and they will continue fold in. If the windows are also open these will close first, the locking button then has to be pressed again to fold the mirrors.

The mirrors will open out as soon as the ignition is turned on.

The mirrors can also be folded and opened from the mirror control knob in the armrest.
