When should I expect to have to change my Fabia's Brake Pads?

Featured Replies

Good afternoon!

I have a Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDi. It's just over 2 years old and it's been through two services and has had no mention of the brake pads needing changing. This is my first Skoda and I love the car, however all my previous cars have needed brake pads doing every 15-20,000 km, so the lack of indication is beginning to worry me.

Can anyone tell me what the usual lifespan of Fabia brake pads are? The parts are a bit harder to come by in the Canary Islands, so if I am aware of this in advance, I can get some spares in :)

Thanks in advance! :)

hehe - The main screen says when to change fabia's bra..... :D Topic title just a bit too long in just the right place. ;)

The fronts will need doing first - you should find rears last upwards of 100,000km. Fronts will probably need doing sooner, but just keep an eye on them from time to time, and you will know when they need changing. :)

Topic title is long because descriptive topic titles get quicker responses ;) I am a forum co-Admin, so know the protocol :D

I shall have a look through the main screen then... by that, I take it you mean the main site before the forums?

I have always been paranoid about brakes and tyres. I have done 30,000km so far and my Fabia has not had one problem. A bit disconcerting, as my last car was a renault 5. :D

EDIT > Sorry... If you mean the main screen on the car, I was hoping to be a little forewarned so that I have time to get the pads ordered. So how long... on average do the front ones last?

I should think fronts = 70,000km? Do you have alloy wheels - easier to check brake pads as you don't need to remove a wheel to check. :)

I don't know if you have brake pad warning system on your car either.

Excellent. So I've got at least another year or two. No, don't have alloys, however I'm sure the tyres will need changing before the brakes will!!
