Remap next week - preparation questions

Featured Replies

My car is in at Jabba on Wednesday next week for a remap (without the variable boost knob thingmy). What should I consider before going?

I'll normally run the car on standard Unleaded, sometimes even from Sainsburys, I'm running low at the moment and would normally fill up at whichever retailer is nearest at the time - should I fill up with "good" BP/Esso/Shell prior to next week?

Do you need to have your wheels balanced beofre going on a RR? I believe I have an out of balance front wheel that shows itself at around 110mph.

What parameters are available for me/Jabba to play with? I've read on here that you can change power/torque/turbo characteristics to whatever you like, but what do most people go for?

Better to use whatever fuel you normally use for day to day motoring, and inform Mike accordingly. Don't ask him to map it for optimax / SUL unless you plan to use it.

Shame you're not having the boost controller, it lets you have the option to choose fuel & adjust to suit.

If you normally use 95 Ron it might be worth using non-supermarket stuff in the future though. If there's a Shell / BP etc station in the vicinity of your supermarket they usually compete on price anyway.

Think about how you normally drive and Mike will do his best to give you a suitable map. If you like better mid-range for overtaking, ask for that...etc :)

Don't worry about balancing, the RR only uses 4th gear, so not sure they go right up to 110mph? You can ask for your own style, but to be honest, Mike there knows exactly the best way to do it, and I'm sure he's not disappointed anyone yet with the outcome he gets.

Its best to get mapped on the fuel you normally use, I think. You may get better power outcome with Optimax, but would be best to keep using it from that day forward, as much as possible.

I would also suggest that when you go for the test drive don't use the back roads. Use the main roads and get on to the A1M for a drive.

You'll be better able to see if you have too much overboost then....

....but watch out for the speed cameras and Plod. ;)
