EGR Valve Seal

Featured Replies

Im looking to clean my EGR Valve however I read that the seals should be replaced after cleaning, does anybody know the part number so that I can order some.

Also is it an easy job?

Cheers

even better...disconnect it...

How would that work, how would I go about doing it?

Would it affect the engine?

First off find out if you need to clean it. Disconnect the boost hose and shine a torch inside the ASV housing.

Excellent thanks for the heads up, does anybody know the part numbers for the seals though?.

Took mine off my 2007 vRS that has 27k on the clock and EGR was minging!

I cleaned it with a small electrical screwdriver, atoothbrush and a can of Carb cleaner.

You wont need to change the rubber seal/gasket on it as long as you dont stick a screwdriver

through it or anything.

I have took off and cleaned 2 x EGR's now on different TDi's and not changed the seal either time,

and so far (touch wood!) they have both been ok.

I cleaned my EGR last week, didn't change the gasket or seal as they were both in perfect condition. Can't say the same about the EGR, it was well and truly caked up. Took a lot of cleaning to get rid of the build up.
