will vrs speedo unit fit straight onto elegance model?

Featured Replies

The vrs one looks much nicer than the outdated pd elegance. Is it a DIY job? Thanks.

No, it will need coding as the cluster is part of the immobiliser system.

Physically, it's only 2 torx screws and a couple of snap connectors, so that's very DIY. Everything else needs someone who REALLY knows their way around VCDS to make it all work, and that's assuming that you've bought one that's compatible with what's already in your car.

I spent an ENORMOUS amount of money trying to retrofit a Fabia vRS Maxidot cluster into a Fabia vRS and in the end it only went in when two Czechs and a German from Skoda did it at Skoda HQ in Milton Keynes (3 dealers had failed to do it) and dear only knows what they replaced to make it work.

If nothing else it would be fun to try it!

Won't it need more than that? I thought the vRS was only one that got it's speedo information from the ABS unit and all the others use a gearbox sensor?

Possibly, I don't know off the top of my head. Either way given that it's not plug and play its probably a no-go for the OP.

Fair enough - but if anyone can do it - you can!

Thanks for the replies. Will probably stick to my pd100 till I can afford the whole car(vrs)!

Might be able to take it apart and swap the plates over so the dails are the same? (Assuming they use the same increments of course.) Think Jason/Devonuptia on here split one in half on here recently with pictures. . .

Will give that a thought. Thanks.
