TPS - Trade Parts Specialists

Featured Replies

Can anyone buy stuff from their branches? Or do you have to be a registered (eg a trade) user?

You have to be a trade user  (That was TPS Plymouth - rude, very unhelpful - wanted headed notepaper or some other form of proof)

hi i use a TPS in mallusk outside belfast and i am not in the trade

but if they ask ru in the trade just say yes and make up a name simples :giggle:

Yeah, I get a lot of stuff there. Not ALWAYS cheaper than, say, GSF or ECP - especially for stuff that can be had from third-party suppliers, like radiators or foglamps. But dead handy for trim pieces or electronic bits - and especially fluids! Some branches may be happier than others to serve private customers, of course, but it can't hurt to ask!

Hi Keith,

I use TPS Chester for bits and pieces - I have never had any trouble as I used to work at a VAG Bodyshop and as such know most of the guys!!

As far as I'm aware there are no hard and fast rules so it would be worth contacting your local branch direct and I'm sure they'll help!! The parts sales guys work on a commission basis and have targets to hit so if you're looking to buy they're always looking to sell ;)

I've bought a few bits from TPS in Derby and never had any problems not being trade.

i work for sheffield tps, as a rule we shouldnt serve non trade people but to be honest i'll serve anyone, like one of the above posts if they question you make something up with your surname or something ie daves autos, but in general most branches should be ok

why couldnt the dealers source? basically tps is a warehouse owned by vw, its so traders dont have the hassle of of having to go through the switchboard at the dealership, most will have 10+ delivery vans aswell. we supply everything a dealer would but just to the trade, the bonus for them is we supply seat/skoda/vw/audi/vw commercial. so the garages only have to ring one number rather than ring 4 seperate dealers for the bits. we are in direct competition with the likes of GSF and euro car parts you'll find our service items and cambelt kits etc are usually cheaper but granted there are items we cant touch them on price. but like i said all our parts come from the same warehouse as the dealers are supplied from and we both use the same systems

'its old wont it do' hahahaha i like it, occasionally things come wrong to part number, a quick call to the factory to request a bin check sorts that out, it takes them a few hours then ring you back with the results ie yes the parts in there are wrong or no they are right your ordering the wrong part

TPS - TRADE PARTS SPECIALISTS.

They are exactly what they say they are TRADE PARTS SPECIALISTS.

I work within the TPS network and I will be 100% honest we serve Traders ONLY. We don't really welcome RETAIL here but you will be charged a RRP price which is only fair if you are RETAIL. Making garage names up and company anmes wont wash here with us.

TPS was set up to fill the gap in the market for Volkswagen Group specialist/Authorisd Repairers & Traders, therefore they have earnt there discount by being part of the motor trade, not just some random off the street.

We are not GSF or Euro Car Parts, those companies asspire to compete on our level, we are proud to sell GENUINE VOLKSWAGEN GROUP PARTS rather then unreliable pattern parts. TPS right Part first Time!!!!

My local TPS sell to the retail but im also in the trade..... my local TPS are really rude i buy from the main dealers direct as they are more helpful and friendly and give better prices

Nice attitude. Vauxhall Trade Club will happily sell to public in most cases and alot of Vauxhall forums have a 'club' account. TPS loss in the end as alot of people would like to buy 'genuine' OE parts but they aren't prepared to be bent over by dealer prices so end up going 'third' party route.

Well with that post you aren't doing TPS any favours.

100% you serve trade only, but then go on to say you don't really welcome retail? Well which is it, one the other or both?

When I spoke with TPS in Leeds a few weeks ago for a price it was clear I was retail and the guy couldn't have been more helpful. Unfortunately their prices were the same as the local dealer so I went there instead.

I've had no problem buying from TPS. As others have said, not much point a lot of the time as they will generally charge RRP for retail sales. If it's an item the dealers don't stock though, it can be handy to pop in and pick it up. One local dealer even got me to pick up a part direct (although I paid TPS and got the dealers trade margin on that occasion)

My local TPS in teesside always beat the dealers prices by a fair bit, im an at home mechanic and always use them for dealer specific parts, oh and the guys in my local TPS are quite happy to help anyone trade or public and are always friendly

They beat the dealers price because of trade status lol.

Most trade suppliers offer varying discount depending on how much volume an individual garage puts their way - as do the dealers to an extent. I can normally buy my parts cheaper at one dealer than I can at TPS - simply because that dealer gives me full discount but TPS generally charge me retail as I don't have an account with them. My other dealer always charges retail so is the same or dearer than TPS (so in fact I just don't buy from them obviously)

It's a very murky world and not nearly as simplistic as this thread suggests

Most NW London VAG dealers don't have a parts dept anymore. They send you to TPS in either Hayes or Colindale.

Why don't you tell us what branch you work in so we can all avoid it.

I have walked into TPS on a number of occasions and purchased stuff with no problems.

Ultimately if TPS don't sell it to me, there are plenty of Skoda dealers with online shops where I can get the stuff from instead.

I go to TPS because they are friendly, helpful, have a lot of stuff in stock and if they don't they get it quick.

My local dealer seems to think etka cannot be viewed by mere mortals which can make ordering parts more difficult than necessary whereas TPS have a big screen on the wall.

TPS also price match ECP/GSF.

Yes you can!

I am not a trader, i go in and ask @ Can I make an order for a cash sale.

They say yes, i get my parts and leave happy.

I use TPS Norwich now and again, always had discount and always go in the office and look up parts with the guys to avoid the wrong parts being ordered. I don't know any of them personally and always state it's cash only.

Better service than most other factors here, and they've been pretty good on prices for most things (£20something for a cambelt kit Inc new bolts etc....), plus 99% of what I've ordered has been with me within 2 days max!

I'll continue to use them over Gsf/Euros for a while yet.

Sell to "trade only"?? You sure you work for TPS Jay??

His first post in Brisky was to resurrect a 4 year old thread? Sounds a little fishy to me. :)
