Failed mot on headlight level

Featured Replies

Yeah with self levelling xenons, is the mot tester taking the ****!!

So.... Im going to put the rear coilovers at max height tonight so it brings the front down possibly

What a joke

Did you wind the headlamp adjuster down on your dash panel ?

DB.

Can always trade headlights with someone without xenons... :giggle: :p

You'll need VCDS to reset the levelling, Now who do we know with that?emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

OEM Xenons = No dash adjuster :D

Ah right?

Could i not just crank it up a foot at the rear?

Jase wind the car up, Retest it and wind it back down! If you just do the rear it might make matters worse!

Would that help though?? I thought they were ment to self level at any height??

The self levelling for the headlights relies on a load sensor at the rear of the car. Raising your car at the rear might sort it, or it might fool the load sensor into thinking there's a different load at the rear and adjusting accordingly putting the beam exactly where it was to start out with. You need to use VCDS to put the car into the correct mode for adjusting, then use the physical adjusters on the headlamp itself. Whatever you do, don't try to do the adjustment at the headlamp without using VCDS correctly or you run the risk of breaking the internal adjuster when the lights are switched on and do a self check.

adjusted them at the headlamp!

all is good, passed second time around....

TBH im not too bothered if they self level anymore (they do still work however)

Yep, as you've fitted coilovers the levelling won't work very well unless it's adjusted :)

But oncoming traffic might like you a bit more if you do ;)

Adjusted fine now... so its all gravy (its spot on)

Aint i a nice driver :)

Would hate to think the beam pattern on cars with wanna-be fakey xenon's (HID's)
