VW is cheaper than Skoda for same spec oil

Featured Replies

As in per an earlier comment VW quoted £30.00 incl VAT for 5 litre of VW 507.00 lube oil

Skoda.................................................quoted £36.00 PLUS VAT............................................er......um

I wont tell you how much ASDA were selling it for last week

I know, I went looking for it, but apparently it was like a riot with people fighting for it lol :giggle:

Doesn't suprise me. I've been getting quotes for fascias today for the Columbus, they seem several times more expensive than the VW versions.

I guess it's like those cheap printers in PC world, people think they have a bargain until they go to replace the ink cartridges.

Just had my Octavia 1.9tdi (Jan'07) DSG Estate Classic (BXE engine) serviced today, they filled it with "Mobil Synth S Special V 5w/40 @ £39.80 (we don't have VAT in Jersey, just GST @ 3%) the invoice does not state how many litres were put in, but I ask the Skoda dealer guy, he said 4litre, my manual says 4.3l, but I just checked the stick and it is over the top level- might this damage to the catalyst?

I will phone them tommorow to ask how much the put in.

Just out of interest, how much is a 24 month service on the UK mainland for my model car?

thanks

Think I paid in the region of £220 for my last 2yr Skoda service, at a main dealer.

Its not just oil which is cheaper at a VW outfit, screen wash £2.80, Skoda £4.99! It's the same bottle.

1st year service last year was £138 and 2ed year was £320 but on the 2ed they did the brake fluid and the air con as well. This is on fixed and I went too a sperate dealers, guess I did need the air con done so could have saved £75 off price but it's well worth killing all those bugs that would have bult up, it smells nice and fresh now!

I've just paid £33 for mine cheekily through VW TPS ;)

It all depends on how much margin the dealer wants to take. The trade price to all of them is the same across the board. Since all the dealers are franchises they can then add what percentage they like, as its totally up to them. Same as service and labour charges, they vary wildely from dealer to dealer.
