Had VWs for 12 years now but have ordered a Diesel VRS as cannot justify spending £25000 on the Golf GTD . Got the VRS for £17000 on the road !

I think you'll find quite a few of us on here who came to the same conclussion

I had an older Golf GTI diesel and priced up the new GTD spec I wanted; even with a DtD discount I couldn't get it under £28k. Looked at the vRS diesel DSG with options and picked that up for just over £18k nearly 9 months ago. Great choice.

£25k! Thats cheap. The one i specced up was £32k compared to £18400 for the VRS! ....An no discounts and a 6 month wait for the VW!

EXACTLY the same reason as mine for the VRS, i specced up a Golf GTD 28k same spec as my VRS, 18K was all i paid, its crazy since all the equipment is basically the same to anyone to mocks my choice for a Skoda i open the bonnet and show them the Vw/Audi badges and say is it worth 10 more for basically the same equipment, plus while i was waiting for my car to arrive i had to hire a golf one weekend, the boot was tiny especially in comparisson to the legendary octavia boot.

Just done a quick spec up again and DTD price is £28700! An Audi A3 is actually cheaper too.

yep, in the same boat here. replaced a mk5 GTI with the vrs, better spec, about 8k cheaper, drives just the same, lots more space. No downside really?

what kind of lead time have they quoted you ??

are they still stating 3/4 months

Did you test drive a vRS as you didnt say ?

Avoid the lengthy delays from the dealer and buy my 4 month old petrol vRS estate which I have to sell due to redundancy.

Race blue, silver roof rails, maxidot and spare wheel.

4 months old and only got 4200 miles on it

yes drove the petrol and the diesell the petrol is the same engine as in my GTI just like the torque of the diesel

I'm interested to know how long they have quoted for delivery?

They have said at least 4 months maybe more

Plus you can get more in the boot of an Octavia than a small sandwich box and a cat with concussion.

So you had a good comparison, hopefully the wait is worth it.

Just sitting hoping that build in 4 weeks does happen & it doesnt get moved again, I am prepared to wait.
