Clutch Housing Missing Plug 02M301115B

Featured Replies

A very worried man at present , was doing a general tidy up in engine bay , 1.9 tdi 6 speed gearbox , and noticed that to the left of battery tray on top of what i think is Clutch housing there is a plug missing , i can see the Large Tooth Wheel , exposed to the elements . Had a look on Elswin part lisyt . Think its this part Plug 02M301115B . Should this be missing , how come , no engine work other than cambelt change last month . Is there any fluid in this area , should it be dry . Is the plug just a push fit or does it need a press . Where and how has it come out . Help and advice needed Not driving till i know waht to do . Thanks

It will have been removed when the cambelt was changed so that the flywheel TDC mark could be checked.

It's only an inspection plug - it's safe to drive

That's is where the mark for TDC (Top Dead Centre) for piston 1 is. When you replace the timing belt you need to ensure that neither the crankshaft or camshaft have moved from this reference position.

The plug just pushes in - no tools required.
