Hi guys, I have been looking for ages and I now give up. Has anybody changed their dashboard lights to blue or white or even changed them at all because im sick of the green colour, Is there a thread on how to take the dials apart to get to the bulbs? any help or advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There's no real reason why a Polo GTI dashboard wouldn't work but there are several companies that will change all the LEDs over for you if you want that done.

I have used these people in the past and their work was excellent.

I recall that it has been done, however if you get it wrong be prepared for a non running car an a lot of expense. The LEDs are soldered onto the circuit board amongst a lot of small surface mounted components, the dash panel also incorporates the immobiliser, so a slip with a hot soldering iron could damage it.

I tried playing around with a dash on previous car changing the dials knocked the gauges and broke instantly 400 quid it costs to replace new 200 second hand plus fitting I couldn't care less if the dash lights were sick green I wouldn't play with it ever!!

Hmmm, but if their Prices start at £25 It might be worth a call just to see what they can quote. Of course you would then have to do AAAAAAAAAALLLLLL the others yourself. I recall someone doing it to some other led's in the car, the light switch and window switches iirc, but was stopped progressing due to a requirement for resistors. All in all I'd want the whole thing done by a professional tbh.

+1 for the above!

I changed the smd's in my first 206 from the ****ty orange to blue and it was pretty easy to do, I used a kit form www.crazyleds.co.uk and it came with everything and step by step instructions.

They used ot have a kit for the fabia vrs but I cant see it listed anywhere so it might be worth sending an email to see if they could do one ? iirc they will also fit the led's for you for an extra cost.

Their prices might start at £25, but I can assure you, you'll be spending rather more for what the OP wants. The guy who does the work will never be accused of being unprofessional or cheap. I reckon, to do the whole dash, including the radio, you're looking at £300+!

Thanks everybody for all your replys and advice, Richard them dials look lush. Im in mixed minds on what to do as the horrible green isnt £300 worth of horrible lol.

No harm in asking for a quote though ?

VW Blue isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'd rather have the docile green of my Fabia back. Each to their own though.

This thread got me thinking....

Virtually every car I've ever owned has had had green illumination.

I've grown to prefer it TBH.

MK2 Escort, MK5 Cortina, 2 Sierras, Saab 9000, MK3 Golf GTi, and now my Fabia.

Only my Bora was non green.

It's getting harder to find aftermarket stereos that are the right colour to match :)

If I changed it would have to be Audi White with red needles

I phoned them and it's a £95 drive in, drive out service but they're 260 miles away from me. I'm gunna be taking the parts out and sending them to them to be converted. :)

What place is that ?

I did them myseld in my old saxo. I'm by no means an expert at soldering either.

I bought the smds from Crazy leds and they sent me the schematics of the fabia ( they don't do a kit any more) The stereo won't be a problem as my current one has approx 113 different led colour options lol.

my mate has done all of the switches and the stereo on his 2005 astra, which looked really good
