rubbish website aside, this bloke's got a real good reputation on the rover forums, so was wondering if you thought it was worth a punt. I know it won't be as good as a remap but its a fair bit cheaper...

thoughts and oppinions appreciated, i did search but no real concensous on the subject.

Sounds quite interesting... but fiddling with the MAF readout to give power lower down.. as per this customer feedback..

Customer feedback:

I was dubious about the Synergy-pd, but having fitted it, which took all of 2minutes, the car now pulls in any gear from just over 1000rpm. There is a much larger shove from 1500rpm so now it goes how I expected it to - much less gear changing and 1000 fewer revs. Superb!

But that can be said from anything that increases to low down torque, so that would be resistors? tuning boxes or a remap.

ATEOTD it will all come down to way the car is driven... yes if you give it full throttle from tickover all the time it cannot do any good, but back in the real world not many drive that way (chav's excluded of course!)

Not true.. you can get clutch soft remaps.. as for the other cheap mods.. they are, as you say, the same anyway in unpredictable power delivery.

Also, Like you say, depends how it's driven.. but if you mod to specifically increase power below 1500rpm which is exactly where the DMF doesn't like it your gonna hit trouble much sooner.. unless you don't boot it that low down the rev range... which makes this product pointless.. so this product specifically won't do the DMF anygood..

Expensive for what it is. It will work to a fashion, but will only introduce what we all try to avoid, big torque at the low end of the rev band. AKA DMF killer if you use it to get low down gains, otherwise pointless. The best option on a PD (bar leaving it alone) is a map that spreads the torque out over the rev band. A bit more poke, with less short shifting.
