I started a thread about these FK "AK" coilovers the other day. They are indeed very cheap. Thread: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/175166-fk-ak-coilovers/

There's a longish thread on the merits (or otherwise) of the AP coilies (Ultra Joel...). That one's already been linked though.

IMO set a price range (say £400-£500) and then go hunting for the best designs and discounts. Choose from Weitec, FK, KW, Bilstein, Koni and the like. Look for stainless steel bodies or similar if you can find them. Also might be worthwhile finding a member in your area who's got coilies fitted and trying to catch a lift/ride one day.

Theres nothing wrong with the AP kit. Some people have had problems some havn't, it's the same story for weitecs! I've had my ap's on for 5000 miles on the lowest setting and i dont get any knocks!

AP, Weitec and KW's come from the same company BTW

After having a spin last night in an AP-equipped Fabia, I'm going for a set myself. No clonking, no crashing, just a nice firm but compliant ride. I'm under the impression that those that do suffer noises are easily sorted as well?

AP, Weitec and KW's might come from the same company, but what does that actually mean? they're not the same product

I got a set of ap's from awesome and the only problem I have had so far is that they wouldn't sit low enough at the back with the adjuster cups in, but that was easily sorted... :D

They are a comfy ride, much better than the springs on standard shocks combo I had before, and the dampng holds them in check pretty well, for under £400 you cant complain too loudly.
