Looks good. Shame I just bought a Columbus system. A huge saving when you add on the costs of bluetooth and MDI. I still like seeing the directions on my maxidot though, which I doubt this will offer.

That looks great.

If that had been an option when I ordered my car i would have had one. I didn't buy a columbus because 1500 is just too much money for something that won't even do a full 7 digit post code like my ancient tom-tom.

I ended up paying 400-odd quid just for the fiscon bluetooth.. 150 for the MDI etc. so for only another 400-ish quid to get a fully functional unit including garmin based 7 digit sat nav.. yep makes sense to me.

I wonder what VW buy these at..?

This looks fab and a grand ain't bad. I've got rear parking sensors and get a nice visual display of the proximity of my rump to bumper-damaging objects. Do you know if you'd still get the same display on this unit? Also, what about the controls for the heating - are they still displayed on this?

I think CEPi's comment above re CAN-BUS adapter means that the climate popups and park sensors can still be made to display..?

Never found an issue with the 5 digit postcode. You can always input the address.

I wonder how long before they are on ebay, or the price drops to below £500

Could be an alternative for MK1 superb owners as the they do the one that fits them, instead of the MFD

Already on ebay at 699 for a new (but used?) one without a mic - item 250707761982

At that price the Columbus looks old hat

I was interested in the Kenwood unit too...expecially as you can add a rear view camera or a TV tuner (or both!) to the package. However my dealer (who had the unit tested) confirmed yesterday that the Kenwood Unit does NOT have the parking sensor display, or the air conditioning pop-up screens. Also, the ipod connector is at the front of the unit which means messy wires everywhere. So no go for me I'm afraid.
