Help - Fabia VRS Mk1 Passenger Seat Won't Slide

Featured Replies

Has anybody any idea if there is a known problem that could be the reason why my passenger side front seat will not budge?

The lever pulls up (but does not seem as positive as the driver's side seat) and the left hand (door side) track seems to release, but the tunnel side track is solid.

There is a cubby box so I am not able to see from the front what is going on, and the seat is stuck in a position that appears to obscure access to the bolts to take it out.

I've had my hand under, and things appear to move, but it is difficult to see. Any help gratefully received - in the mean time I will keep probing about and hopefully keep all my fingers in one piece!

Mark.

Since you have the cubby box there I presume you don't have a changer - which I think means there's no cubby box on the driver's seat? (Mine has the box on that seat since it's got the changer on the passenger side). So could you look at the driver's side for clues?

You could really do to take the seat out to have a look as there may be summat stuck in one of the rollers.

Just unscrewing 4 spline bolts will release the whole seat so you can remove it to have a look. If you don't have the tools than maybe a nearby fellow briskodian would oblige as its not a big job.

Thanks to you both.

Good idea to see if I can spot the difference, will try over the weekend.

I dont think I can remove the seat and runner assembly from the floor as the seat is positioned so the rear bolts are obscured by the top section of runner. There are bolts that fasten the seat to the runner - I will see if I can undo these.

Problem solved!

After some contorting I managed to poke out a pen top that was wedged under the track release plunger on the tunnel side track. Grovelling around on the floor is much more fun when it's warm and the sun is shining!

The previous owner was an expert on jamming mechanisms - they had also managed to put a DVD case in the under-seat cubby box - just the right size to wedge the latches so the box door won't open. Damaged the door getting it out - not even a decent DVD!

Anyway, on to the next job.

 Glad you managed to get it sorted.

When I first got mine, I found a disgustingly sticky sweet that was lodged into the corner of the glovebox, only after I'd got a CD case stuck to it :(

Its normally a case of summat stuck some place that is very awkward to get to.

Glad it is sorted.
