Fabia VRS TSI Front Fog Lights

Featured Replies

Just taken delivery of a new VRS TSI today and paid the extra £260 for kerb projector headlights. When I am on dipped beam if I turn a sharpish corner the light does seem to move, albeit subtly to illuminate the corner, i don't however see that side front fog light come on though - should it?

Also, how do you turn on the front fog lights? With headlights not on the LED running lights are on quite bright, when I turn on sidelights or headlights the LEDs dim down considerably as expected to act as sidelights, however how do you turn on the front fog lights for when it's foggy? My dealer says you pull out the headlight switch to turn on the rear fog light and then the LEDs should come on bright but they don't - is there something wrong with them or am i not doing something right?

Thanks for any help.

Ryan

You don't have front fogs, they are just daytime running lights.

The switch just pulls out once for the rear fog.

Thanks for that Tech1e, that's rather disappointing though as the Skoda dealer seems to think the car should have them. are they an option? They weren't on the options list.

In other markets front foglights are available instead of the LED DRL's which are standard in the UK market - you can't have both, unlike the larger combined foglamp/drl unit on non vRS Fabia FL models.

There does seem to be some confusion at dealer level, as a couple have advised me that the DRL's double up as foglamps which is simply not true.

Be interested to hear how well the curve projector lamps work as I too have ordered them on my vRS Estate - are they powerful enough on dipped beam to match the performance of the vRS?

Just spoken with the dealer and he's going to ring Skoda technical to get a definitive answer. There's also a question over the MDI cable for connecting an MP3 player. The black sales brochure says it is standard equipment but my car came with the connector under the glovebox and the capability in the stereo but no cable. They have one on order but say it'll cost me £30! BTW interior mats are not standard and VRS ones are not available yet.

The kerb projector lamps only move the dipped beam and are good I find, very good in fact, however the movement of them is very subtle and it's quite difficult to spot the movement of the beams. It would be good if there was a switch to switch the kerb following off so you could compare with and without. The cut-off of the beam at distance is quite abrupt but that just needs getting used too.

I drove in fairly thick fog on the moors last night and even without front fogs (which I have never thought were very good even on my Mk1 VRS) the amount of light and kerb illumination was more than adequate for med fast progress. With main beam on and driving on fast sweeping B roads you have more than enough light unless you are a complete idiot.

Thanks Ryan for the review of the curve projector lamps - glad I've ordered them - I think!

I have already pointed out to my dealer that the mdi should include the cable, as per the brochure and they have agreed to provide once the car arrives. Good luck with your dealer.

Cheers Andy

sorry but I want to ask little question too.

I want to replace bulbs for my new 1.2tsi fabia projector halogen H7.

I want to remove the old one and I cant.

"Turn the connector with the light bulb up to the stop towards the left and remove"

some one can explain me this in simple? is stuck! :p

Have any of the VCDS experts figured out if it's possible to change the coding on the vRS DRL's to turn them back into fog lights? Or is it a case of changing the light units and fitting a new headlight switch also?

Well he's wrong. It doesn't have front foglights and it isn't an option. Unless you disable the DRLs and use them as fogs?

Not that we have fog bad enough to warranty front fog lights in this country anyway but I'm sure in other parts of the world front fogs would be very useful.

You can't turn them into foglights unless you replace the entire light unit and headlight switch.
