Skoda colour choice, help

Featured Replies

Hello,

Well the time has come to sell my Clio 182 it has been advertised for a while but I've taken a deposit on it now.

I've seen one on auto trader well a few only colours are red , black and yellow and I'm not sure if the yellow is nice or not I've never seen one in person I'd like opinions on the vrs in yellow

I think I'd prefer silver as blacks need cleaned too often and not sure on red.

I'll have roughly 4k to spend not a lot I know so I'm looking at something with 80-90k+

Thanks for reading

Chris

Depends on what you wanna do with it really.. subtle or obvious?

Personally I hated Yellow when buying but now a couple years later I can really see the appeal.. it's so much less boring.

Red's nice.. not as loud as yellow, but still interesting enough to look like something that can move.

Something to be aware of is that the vRS came in two different yellows depending on the model year.

I *think* the earlier ones (pre 05?) are a more lemon yellow. The later ones more of a lighter custard yellow? Both are still quite yellow though. Ironically.. I think the custard one is called lemon yellow? And the brighter lemon yellow was called sprint yellow?

I may have these the wrong way round, someone will be along to correct me.

The word Yellow has now lost all meaning to me...

I like 182's in liquid yellow :) but not sure what the Skoda in yellow looks like in person but I'd have to get door handles and rub strips sprayed or removed if I got yellow.

I'll take a look in the for sale section here

I was looking at a yellow one for £4.5k or a silver one with much better spec at £6k.

So happy that I got the silver one, I've done 1500 miles in the last 3 weeks and its still 'clean'

Ah ok I'll need to get clued up on different specs I thought it was minor differences like ESP and hmm not much else lol

When I said spec I meant that it had lower miles, less owners, full Skoda service history & a recent cambelt change.

Earlier cars were Lemon Yellow 8Q8Q

Later cars were Sprint Yellow F2F2

The date of the change was "week 22 (29 May 2006)"

It depends how you define "minor" - the May 2004 catalogue I've recently discovered which covers pre-facelift cars that you're most likely to come across at your budget lists the following factory-fit extras - which I've put roughly into order of what I've heard people mention:

Basic Price - £11,990

Metallic (actually just the silver) or Black Magic - £260

CD changer - £275

Cruise - £125

Xenons - £500

ESP - £400

Heated seats - £125

Electric sunroof - £400

Third rear Headrest - £45

Front passenger airbag switch - £60

Side airbags - £275

Sat Nav - £1,800

So fully optioned you're looking at around £4+ - or even more with retro-fitted leather. But such cars would be VERY rare. I can't recall anyone having factory-fit Sat Nav for instance...

£1800 sat nav? I'd expect it to talk dirty to me for that price, £4k of options wow

I will try get an 04 plate, and now I know what extras were available it'll help :)

Hi Chris,

From what I understand both the Yellow and Red's are prone to fading (await the backlash!!!)

I personally do like the Silver, strange as I've just sold my Silver one and bought a Black one.. but it was more about the car and mileage than the colour.

Guess I'll be polishing it even more than I did the silver one :-(

Think especially if it was an older one I'd recommend Silver as it doesn't show chips and scratches quite so much.

Good luck with whatever you go for

Earlier cars were Lemon Yellow 8Q8Q

Later cars were Sprint Yellow F2F2

much prefer Sprint Yellow myself, but for the money being talked about black is probably what I'd go for as when it's clean black looks good

For me it was either Silver or Black,

But since we already had a silver Fabia,

and my last car was a Silver Bora. (Same shade I think..)

I eventually buckled and went for a black one.

I'm just not extrovert or "fun" enough for Red or Yellow.

And didn't have the budget for Blue. :(

And I'd never had a black car before. Nearest I got to black was

my Dragon Green Golf GTI which looked almost black at night.

( Which I think would look ace on a vRS by the way.)

Anyway although I love my Black Furby dearly, its spent more

time under a wash mitt than all of my cars put together I reckon.

So if you go Black I'd recommend opening an account

somewhere like this ----> http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/

and buy some of this ----> http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/glazes/poorboys-black-hole/prod_494.html
