Fabia vRS 2006

Featured Replies

You don't actually usually get any paperwork as it's all on Skoda's computer system ...

Surely there's a list of what's included and what's excluded - and whether it's specific to the supplying garage or all Skoda garages?

Hi Guys,

I am trying to buy a Fabia 1.9 vRS 2006/06 model with 47,000 on the clock from a skoda dealership and have reached a deal on £6700 including a years warranty, breakdown cover and a years road tax. Also they would be throwing in some floormats and a tank of diesel. The model also has CruiseControl & a 6 CD changer fitted and has full skoda service history. It was a demo model but had one owner afterwards. It also had a cambelt change. Is this a good price or am I overpaying

Thanks

Hi, I bought a 2006 vRS privately 2 weeks ago for £5100. It had 50K on the clock, FSH, cd changer. There was a few issues like needed a new tyre, cracked wing mirror, fualty fuel filler cap, ripped drivers seat and the cambelt change was due. All sorted now tho! £6700 sounds preey steep IMHO!

If u want peace of mind pay more and buy from a skoda main dealer and get their great warranty

If your after a bargain buy private and haggle.Job done

But I've got no paperwork whatever to say what it covers - or the RAC Assistance etc etc - I've now sent them a letter...

The dealer has responded:

With regard to your recent fax and email, we beg to point out we are not and never have been in the Skoda approved used car programme, believing that our own used car sales programme is more advantageous to our customers.

The Skoda web site is incorrect, plus any approved used cars at retailers are clearly identified with correct point of sale material for the scheme.

We are satisfied that we have done everything to meet a used car sale to yourself, if you have any problems with the vehicle please feel free to contact our after-sales department through the normal channels, we recommend any approach be made by a phone call, as an email/fax could regrettably be lost with spam and junk fax deletion.

If u want peace of mind pay more and buy from a skoda main dealer and get their great warranty

... except that not all Skoda dealers give warranties - even if the Skoda website suggests otherwise. Caveat emptor...

Sounds like a decent motor, Skoda warranty and they are fixing all the problems before they sell it which is good. Shame it isn't Black though.

When you getting it?

I think from a dealer that price isnt too bad, when I was looking in May/June this year, my local Skoda dealer had an '04 plate with 32k on it for 7000! They also had a 53 plate in with 178,000 on the clock up for 3500 - sold as seen! The only vRS they have in at the minute is:

http://www.prestige-garage.co.uk/UsedCar172.aspx

Which makes your one look good value.

I bought my vRS private in June this year, 07 plate, red, 26.5k, FSSH, one owner, cruise, 11 months MOT, 8 months Tax, due to warping and then incorrect diagnosis by dealers it had just had brand new front disks & pads, and then new rear disks! I picked it up for 6600.

Thank sounds a great buy, I thought I did well!!!

always deal to be had, just got to be in the right place at the right time and have the folding handie!!!

My first time hearing about a remap though (pardon me I am just getting into my car jargon), is this something the skoda dealership would do or do you have to go to a skoda expert. Can it go wrong what is the impact on the fuel economy

Wow, you'll read plenty about remaps on here, in a nutshell an average stage 1 remap will

increase the power by 30-50bhp and increase the torque to around 300 lb/ft.

There are many places that can do this for you but some are a bit iffy.

I'd say avoid ebay mappers, and anywhere thats too cheap. You get what

you pay for particularly with remaps. A custom map specific to your car

is probably the best option but realistically those start around the £300 mark.

If you look in the site sponsors forum you'll see a few places which offer a variety

of tuning and performance services. These places are highly recommended amongst

members on here. http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/164-performance-tuning-and-parts/

I don't think Skoda offer remaps directly, and I'm fairly sure that if you had one done

by a third party during warranty it would render it null and void in their view.

It's a better plan to drive her for a year until you're familiar with driving

a torquey car with a narrow powerband.

Then, do some research when your warranty has

expired and find somewhere that will look after your car and map it responsibly.

In the meantime, I'm sure another member will take you out for a blat in a mapped car so you

can see the difference.

Of course things can go wrong but that's true of any modification really ,

but having the work done at a reputable establishment will reduce the likelyhood of that I'd say.

But until then enjoy your vRS in standard form, it still has plenty of poke and surprising

mid range performance. A good fun car... Have a blast

Defo, its quite often being in the right place at the right time (or being willing to drive over 100 miles at short notice) and being lucky enough to have the cash to hand! But good deals are always around if you keep your eyes open.
