SO CHEESED OFF!

Featured Replies

Well today was supposed to be the day. I had a call from my dealer last Tuesday to sat my Octy vRS petrol had arrived :smirk:.

We agreed on today for collection . So I arranged for a friend to take me to the dealer, I returned my Dad's Daihatsu Sirion to him after washing and praising the socks of it :giggle: .

Yesterday afternoon I had another phone call from the salesman to say that the Octy was stuck in "Transport mode"? and they needed a disc to reset it which would not arrive in time for my collection. :dull:.

So it will be another week before I'm off work to be able to collect it  .

WILL THIS PAIN EVER END :(

Being a dealer I'm not quite sure how to respond but...

You don't need a disc to take it off transport mode as I'm sure other users will agree with me.

You might need a disc for the satnav to load the maps but to take it off transport mode you just need to plug the car into 5052 and under guided functions (I think?) you can find the transport mode setting.

There may be some other reason why they have delayed, maybe the car hasn't turned up or something when they expected? I've had a few trucks turn up a day or so late recently.

" Transport Mode " and " Disc "...................Confused..........Please explain

I'm as confused as anyone else. :wonder: That's just what the dealer explained to me so being technologically "dumb" I have to go along with it

What is transport mode anyway? Does it limit power?

Transport mode just disables a lot of the functions of the car. Mostly so it doesn't drain the battery whilst they are in transit.

Things like remote locking, alarm, cruise control, etc doesn't work.

It gets turned off as part of the PDI (Pre-delivery Inspection).

Oh right Thanks for that. I see what the purpose of it is now.

I was told by the salesman that the car was at the dealers on Tuesday because he originally offered it to me yesterday but as I was working we opted for today? :wonder:

HMMMM It sounds to me as if your dealer is BSing you because either the car aint there or there is a fault with your car. Personally i would have gone down to look at it anyway, also if you had then you may have found out why it is not ready.

Have you bought the car on finance?

If you are paying cash, ask to pay with a debit card over the phone and get them to deliver the car to your work or home address in the week.

If it's just in transport mode they can turn it off in 10 minutes on Monday morning, all is not lost.

I will be paying for it on finance. I cant really have it delivered to me as I leave here Sunday night and won't be home again until Friday lunch due to work. BILLYT1903 has made me think i may need to do some investigation. :wonder:

Wouldn't cost you anything but time to go and have a look, i went and saw mine the day it was delivered, still had the plastic on it, just couldn't resist :)

I'm sure your right. Trouble is as I sit here I'm without transport. I've got to sort something out to get to work tomorrow night. Looks like I've got to make a pleading call to Dad and his Super Fantastic Brilliant Sirion :giggle:

HA HA!!! Sorry mate, sounds like they pranged it or its arrived in the wrong spec, maybe they are retro fitting something or doing a quick repair. I'd be down there PDQ to take a look, chances are its in the bodyshop!! What they told you is nonsense, they are are main dealer so should have everything on site, if its in transport mode you can still check it and test drive it.

It's not Nottingham, Leicester, Lincoln or Peterborough if that helps.

lol

Hope it gets sorted but they are telling you porkies!

Yep i agree , was just trying to be a tad more diplomatic LOL

Seems there puling the wool over your eyes. Get down there and demand to look at it. At the end of the day the car is yours.

Think they are trying it on with you go down and ask to have a look at your car after all you have paid for it

did you go and see your car was it ok ????

Same here, the same day I first visited the dealer and sealed the deal. It was a bit of a fluke, as it was the dealer's stock just delivered which happened to fit my spec. If I'd been in a real hurry I'm sure I could have arranged to drive it away, but I went for the later full PDI and had time to take the bits I wanted to keep off my own px car.

Just to let you all know I managed to visit the car and all was well. It had not fallen off the top of the transporter or had a grand piano land on it. :giggle: It turns out that it required a software update and it was the dealers system that needed rectifying before it could operate. I think the young salesman had not so much got the wrong end of the stick but got the wrong stick!

Anyway I collected the Octy three hours ago and have brought it safely home. First impressions are that it seems a little smoother and more refined than my 57 plate. Two things I have found that I don't like are firstly when you lock and unlock it makes an annoying bleep, my neighbours will love that when I come home early Friday mornings and I don't know whether it's me getting old or what but I thought the driver's seat seem very hard, much more so than my old car. let's hope it'll soften up a little as the miles go on.

Have you got maxidot? You can turn off the bleep with it, also can set all the doors to unlock on the first button press. Glad its all ok but you never know.
